After Pitt beat ISU 59-41 did all the pundits then scream this is proof Clemson deserved in and the Big 12 was a fraud?
Are we not able to actually watch basketball and judge teams? The AcC went 21-10 the last 2 years in the tournament and we all know Pitt this year is much better than Pitt last year so saying Pitt didn’t belong in the field is absurd. And everyone watching the AcC knew UVA was playing lousy for awhile.
Last night’s game proved one thing that we already knew, UVA stunk at the end of the year. We also know Pitt is a far better team than the one started 1-5. Lowe played a total of 30 minutes in Pitt’s first 3 losses. If Pitt now played the Pitt of early January, they would beat them soundly.
The fact that pundits are talking about UVA finishing third in the ACC, backs up SMF’s claim that people have no clue how unequal the conference SOS is and why conference SOS needs to be explicitly on the team sheet if you are going to list NC SOS and make a huge deal out it.
UNC, Duke, Clemson and Pitt deserved to make the tourney. Kudos to State but they were as bad an enigma as Duquense or Oregon getting in.
But an easy solution to this is expand the tourney because it’s clear the selection process can’t predict actual results so just let the top 96 teams play and ditch the NIT.
