I would say Van Pelt too, but Palko might be a better comp.

yeah i agree he is pretty good, lets not put the weight of the world on his shoulders yet though .

Van Pelt came off the bench in Morgantown, scored 3 or 4 TDs, Second half, to make it all the way back , to tie the game at the gun.

Peterman was to pitt football what Brad Wanamaker was to Pitt hoops. Both were studs in pitt uniforms and under appreciated by many.

I think Nate gets slightly overlooked because he was a transfer and because he had a ton of weapons around him. That said he was a hell of a player and the game in Clemson is one of the best games you will see a college QB play

I agree - I don’t remember A. Van Pelt being as mobile as KP. But so far, I think KP looks more accurate than Palio.
I think Palko suffered being poor pass blocking. 9 sacks against Utah in the Fiesta Bowl.

Yeah except I think he's also more accurate than Peterman, I think pickett hit his first 10 in a row and it wasn't like the receivers were making diving catches. Usually right on the money. Also showed decent avoidance of pass rush

He’s single handily a reason for optimism this season .
A good qb covers up a lot of deficiencies.
I think we are going to see some splash plays from new places this year. Seems like we have a decent number of athletes to get involved. Anxious to see if Shocky and Ford get snaps, and if Taysir emerges in to a consistent threat

Yep, not much doubt about that. I like the coaching hire by Kent St though, and thought Barrett showed some promise.
Lovie is an absolute trainwreck and is probably coaching his final season.

No it isn't. I think Pickett is a pretty good QB. Time will tell but in my experience watching college football for decades now, he appear to be the best Pitt has had for a long time.

In fact it’s beyond ridiculous after 2 starts one of which was against a team w very few athletes who could even sniff playing time in any P5 conference.
Who was our last QB to be 2-0 as a starter and 2-1 overall?? We should feel confident to predict 2 or 3 national championships this season!
Pickett looks good but it's a small sample size. Two games. Way to early to tell.
By the way, I might go back more but Pickett reminded me of Pete Gonzalez. Mobile, quick decision decisions and accurate throws. I think Pickett has better physical tools that Gonzalez but that's who he reminds me off.

I'm showing my age but the guy he immediately reminds me of is Rick Trocano. And Rick was an excellent QB in his own right ... it took Dan Marino to oust him.

So it’s not really high praise-
More an indication of how average at best our q.b play has been recently.

The zip and accuracy on his passes aren’t a function on competition.
Nor is his mobility and instincts.
Rutherford has never gotten much love around here. Folks were always calling for Palko to take his job.
Rutherford was very lucky to have Fitz. Otherwise he would have been just average. I wish he wouldn't have put on so much weight and had been a better dual threat QB.
