Larry Fitzgerald

I remember being at his coming out party in the 2nd game of the season in 2002 against A&M. I think he had something like 10 catches in the fourth quarter to give Pitt a pulse before losing 14-12. Glad to say I saw that with my own eyes.

The next Pitt Hall of Famer. Unreal!
Could be Reuben Brown, Marty Schottenheimer and Art Rooney II too!

Reuben Brown one of those borderline guys, he's going to wait a while but hopefully he eventually gets in.

It's funny, no matter how good some of these guys were in college you never know for sure how it will translate to the NFL. Take a guy like Clowney who is as physically gifted as anyone I've ever seen, but his injuries/softness may prevent him from ever reaching his potential. Put Nkemdiche in this category as well. I remember being convinced that Peter Warrick would be a bust and he pretty much was. Few have been more dominant than Hugh Green at the college level, but it didn't really transfer so much to the NFL.

All homerism aside, I don't remember ever being so sure that a guy would be even better than he was in college than Larry Fitzgerald. Had he played with better QB's his entire career he may have gone down as the best WR ever. What an unbelievable representative for the university on and off the field. Maybe the #1 Pitt player of all time, and that's saying something.

Dorsett hard to beat, Revis too, but Fitzgerald right there and Donald just warming up, and Whitehead following in Dorsett, Fitzgerald, Revis, Foot Steps as Freshmen All American!

Great players no doubt....now we need that great coach to lead us to team accomplishments which match the brilliant individuals we've seen.

The list of great coaches who came through this place is staggering .....Pitt either didn't keep them through its stupidity or couldn't for other reasons...

Time to end that is now

Great post, I love it when Lair Posters have to discuss which Pitt Players will get into the Hall of Fames first, just goes to show how recruits that come to Pitt, and learn to play right away, end up in NCAA & NFL Football History and Millionaires Club, NO BRAG JUST FACT!

Our Rival Brothers and Sisters at Penn State and West Virginia Football Programs Fans, hate to admit that that about Pitt, but they have to accept that about why Top Pitt Recruits become Top Players and Smart Recruits choose Pitt for that reason and can't be refuted!

Are u talking Pitt career?
TD, Green, AD if it is their career.
It's a great problem to have. Yes statistically and longevity of their Pitt careers, can't argue against Donald and Green. But does that mean a guy like Fitz that probably had the best season ever for a receiver is not top 3 all time at Pitt? It's almost insane the amount of star players that have played here. We just need to get a few of them on the same team at once!

We were at a local dive bar with some friends watching the game - the whole place stood up cheering for Fitz and my guess is only a very small % of those there went to Pitt (or even college), if at all besides me. How can you not love the guy?

Remember that Green hurt his knee in the pros. Before injury he did make the pro bowl.

I did some calculations a couple of months ago. With average seasons over the next few years he would be number two all time in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

Pitt has the NFL's number 4 (Curtis Martin) and 8 (Tony Dorsett) all time rushing leaders. LeSean McCoy is number 54! Kidding :D

Dan Marino is 3rd all time passing yards and 5th all time passing touchdowns.

Add to that you had Russ Grimm and Mark May as members of the famed Redskins "Hogs", Jimbo Covert on that great '85 Chicago Bears team and Mark Stepnoski as the anchor of the Dallas Cowboys of the 1990's.

Add in Larry Fitzgerald and that's not too bad.

If the Cards can win the Super Bowl and Fitz has 2 more solid games, you can mention him as an all-time postseason great WR right up there with Jerry Rice. The numbers are very impressive. And a class act too!

Why some PSU & WVU Fans absolutley hate PITT si right there with USC, ND, MIAMI, and Michigan, Ohio State and Texas and upset they are not, and this is not just from 1900-1999, but 2000-2016?

They envy Pitt instead of being upset with why their Programs cannot produce the same caliber of Players?

A Super Bowl victory would absolutely cement his legacy. His postseason numbers are already as good as you'll see from anyone. With the Steelers out now, pulling hard for the Cards to win it all.

I would live to see Fitz hoist the Lombardi Trophy. He deserves it. No one is more loyal, think about how many times he could have gone somewhere else for more money and would probably have better stats with a decent QB. He has one now, but that hasn't always been the case for him.
