What a dog sh*t performance. Right from the start. Here are my very frustrated thoughts:
- Blame Pickett all you want. He wasn't the problem today. He completed 75% of his throws and his INT was the result of a true freshman running the wrong route. He also passed Nate Peterman for 8th all time in passing and will pass Stull for 7th with 127 yards passing in the bowl game.
- This season will still be a success IMO if we get to 8 wins. The way we ended sucked but nationally we were expected to win 5 or 6.
- I don't know how in the hell you know the run is coming on the last drive and you have players like Stocker in there. I would have pulled him for at least an extra LB or DL. Not great from a defensive minded head coach.
- This was about as sloppy of a loss as you can have. To basically be double digit favorites and do this on senior night is embarrassing.
- 5 fumbles is also an abomination. I don't give Wayne a pass bc he's a freshman but the RBs know you hold onto the ball first and foremost.
- Hidden points that make a difference in a 6 point loss: Wayne fumble gives BC 3 free ones. Vincent Davis fumble leads to 3. Aaron Matthews not knowing to hustle up to the line bc it's a sneak is another 4 points. Wayne running the wrong route is at least 3 more. So in a 7 point loss, I just described 13 points that we lost on mental errors. Just horrendous.
- Wayne won't remember this game fondly but he looks like he'll at least by a player for 4 years.
- Man, Shocky has some good hands.
- Our lack of depth was exposed on offense by Mack being out.
- I think Ford being out in the first half lead to some of those points being scored. Stupid targeting.
- Defense did not play well today. BC scored 26 points in a game where the QB only had 9 completions and 123 yards. Where was the pass rush? I'm not talking stats bc you can't get a lot of sacks on 19 drop backs but it seems like we never had the push we needed. Maybe the young kids on the line finally wore down.
- I expected Pitt to lay one egg this year. Btw this and Miami we laid 2.
- Narduzzi should not be fired. When you fire someone without a plan you end up with Mike Haywood. I think if he wins the bowl game it will take some heat off him going into next year. If we finish 7-6 he will be firmly on the hot seat.
- 2015 - finished 2-6 after starting 6-1.
- 2016 - finished 3-3 after starting 5-2.
- 2017 - finished 1-2 in the last three.
- 2018 - lost the last 3 after getting to 7-4.
- 2019 - Season isn't over yet so this could look better or worse soon but as of now we are 0-2 after starting 7-3.
