Pitt's history of choking in consequential games deserved a short mention for context in his original story -- not the way Benz belabored it.

After all, do the media mention Jerry Sandusky every time Penn State gets a big win? Equal context would dictate that they should be mentioning how far they have come. But we all know the media doesn't do that.

I'd say they've been solidly average for most of the last 25. I can't say we've sucked too much since Harris took over. More winning seasons than losing ones in that stretch.

Before that, yes, completely sucked.

Dating back to ‘97, our regular season record is 169 wins and 137 losses. That’s not terrible.

...and why not, until Pitt breaks that mold and has even just one season, where they don't "Pitt", even in Wanny's 10 win season, they went from 9-1 to 9-3 and lost the conference before getting win #10 in the CareCare Bowl! They basically ignored the biggest scandal in the history of college football at Penn St, but then will send multiple reporters to cover their white out game. When PS basketball sucks you hear crickets, but on the rare occasion they are good they receive front page coverage. The same thing can be applied to WVU. They received front page coverage when they were good, but you hear crickets now that they are mediocre. That in a nutshell is the problem.

Beat me to punch on this one. The perfect example of how the media treats PITT was (Richard Cranium) Ron Cook not voting Fitz for Heisman. Show me an another city where the local media did not vote for a local player who was a Heisman candidate?
