Lunardi is a lunatic

Short of us beating UNC, right now I’m thinking our best chance to make the tourney is BC beating UVA. I can easily see the ACC not getting 5 bids but hard to think the conference would only get 3.

BC beats UVA and I think we’re in without needing to beat UNC. Otherwise, as of now it’s still a complete toss-up as to whether we get in.
You might be completely right!

I wouldn’t go that far … but a 10 would be pretty certain.
Beating UNC on a Neutral floor would be a 10-spot jump in the NET.... potentially even putting Pitt in the Top 30.

It would also give Pitt 6 quad 1 wins *away from home* .... not even the #1 seeds Houston and UConn can say that.

The guy isnt well. Here's my thing. We have Fox News and CNN openly trying to influence elections. Would it be so terrible if ESPN told Lunardi that he has to be more kind to ESPN business partners? He is influential. The committee members see him all week and he's going to kill us for our non-con, yet our regular SOS is going to skyrocket.
CNN is Fox light the last 6 years
You’re mistake.
Maybe MSNBC but nobody watches

It's just hard for me to fathom that the 4th place team in the ACC, which is now going to the semis of the conference tournament, could be left out of the field.
I’m with you…but it happened to the 3rd place team that went to semis just last year. I don’t agree with it one bit but everyone seems to have a bone to pick with acc.

This guy has always been negative towards Pitt. Not sure why. Needless to say, I disagree with his assessment. In the second half of this season, Pitt proved themselves to be an NCAA Tourney team. Stick the NET up you ass and use your own eyes.

Unfortunately for Pitt and fortunately for Wisconsin, the committee doesn't look at recency, only total body of work.
And that is a dumb mistake. Did the college football committee look at total body of work when they bounced Florida State? No, they looked at their current situation with no starting quarterback.

Teams get better as the season progresses, only lunatics wouldn’t look at that. My opinion is Pitt is too small in the frontcourt with no depth in the front court but they deserve to be in the tournament

And PItt still should be easily in.

We are among the very best in the country beating good teams away from home - our metrics are all very good — except ooc sos .

At some point - isn’t the committee’s job to pick the best 36 at large teams - we are clearly by the eye and by pretty much every computer metric one of the top 36. Ooc sos should hurt teams that are borderline across other metrics - PItt’s resume just isn’t borderline in any way .

Like I said in another post - if we somehow get left out then F it —

Forget what place we or any other team finished in the conference, it’s meaningless to the committee.

More important is the # of teams, no way the ACC only gets 3. Right now UVA would be the 4th, BC beating UVA is our best path to the tourney if we don’t beat UNC.

I thought it was good that Bilas stated that Pitt IS a tournament team in the post game show not withstanding the non-conference schedule.

Yeah, but he expounded on that thought by talking about the non-conference slate, and what the resume actually is on paper.

Truth of the matter is Pitt's resume is not very impressive and they are totally at the mercy of the committee. It would be in their best interest to win tomorrow. At the very least play them to the wire.

Let’s just hope he’s wrong. Truth be told, I’m afraid he’s right on the money. But let’s win tomorrow and make it a moot point!!
DT, Totally respect your opinion, but I don't think he is close to on the money. Pitt is in, they did what they had to do. There are several bubble teams that are likely below Pitt, like TCU, Oklama and others. I have been consistent in saying we are in , a lock in Mo Cheeks bracket, with one ACC win. Having said that, we have the potential to beat North Carolina. Fede frustrated Bacot last year. If he can hang defensively with Bacot, with just modest help, that will be huge. If Hinson/Ish play close to what they did today, we have a decent shot. We need to battle for 40 minutes, and be in the game. need total team game.

Pitt has improved so much during the season. 12-3 since Jan 20th. One of the best road teams in the NCAA. The big10 is a J-O-K-E enough already. Lunardi is a dick with ears

From what I'm hearing we're in. We shall see. H2P!!!! Very proud of our players and coaches.

I do like his what he and god help me Boeheim have said -
Watch this team ! This is a team who can win multiple nccat games .

I know the eye test shouldn’t be everything -
But it should be something .

The body of work shows it
Boeheim has really been in on the Pitt bandwagon for them making the tournament. He talks about it everytime he is on ACC Network and brings up the 7 road wins which he says all the time the committee always looks at and how they pass the eye test as an NCAA Tournament team.

So having 4 Q1 wins away from home isn‘t impressive at all? And having a 6-5 Q1/Q2 away

Really not true - our metrics and resume are very good - certainly tournament worthy. Our road wins and road quad 1 wins are elite .
