Mark May---

I love Mark May because he infuriates so many non Pitt fans. The OSU fans really seem to have a particular disdain for the man.

Not sure...but it seems to be network habit to cycle through guys. May has lost a lot of his relevance to this generation, through no fault of his own, just because of Father Time.

May is better than Terry Bowden, Jesse Palmer and some of the other clowns they've had on with Saunders.

I enjoyed May. Didn't always agree with him. At time it was like he was the Bill Laimbeer of CFB Analysts - he could get under you skin with comments that while biting, were probably accurate. I would think his career is far from over.

Smart, articulate, and Pitt can be proud he came to Pitt, won Outland Trophy, Graduated, went on to the NFL & multiple Super Bowls, and is an Alumnus of Pitt, what else can an Alma Mater expect?
High school: Oneonta (NY)
College: Pittsburgh
NFL draft: 1981 / Round: 1 / Pick: 20
May attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he played for the Pittsburgh Panthers football team from 1977 to 1980. As a senior in 1980, he was a consensus first-team All-American and received the Outland Trophy as the nation's top collegiate interior lineman. As a part of the 1980 Pittsburgh Panthers football team, he played with future NFL players Dan Marino, Jimbo Covert, Bill Maas, Hugh Green, and Tim Lewis. As a junior and a senior, May did not allow even one quarterback sack. He earned the nickname "May Day" for "wreaking havoc on the opposing defensive ends." After his senior season, May played in the Hula Bowl and Japan Bowl all-star games. Under the tutelage of head coach Jackie Sherrill, May and his teammates led Pitt to a 39–8–1 four-year record, which included three top-10 finishes and four bowl games. The university retired May's jersey number (73) in 2001, and May became the eighth Pitt player to be so honored. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2005, becoming the 23rd Pitt player or coach to earn the honor.

He's a dolt. Once Holtz left he lost his utility. Let's not put lipstick on a pig because he's one of our own. Pittsburgh is provincial enough without bending over backwards to accept any and everybody with even a minor connection to the city.

Maybe he'll be better when he isn't cast as "former football player who is paid to give opinions based on playing 20 years ago". I'm not saying he won't. But until then, he's little more than Harold Reynolds or Charles Barkley. Antiquated views, no substance, opinions that you pray the producers insist he say in order to get his paycheck.

In one post you manage to disparage not only one of our proud alums who has done well for himself, but also the city itself. At least you were concise in your animus.

I don't believe he is a dolt. How he was used on espn was acting. Even when he called games with rece Davis and holtz, the shtick was upheld. Unfortunately too many espn types are just characters playing the obnoxious or contrarian

I'd say that's high praise, comparing him to Barkley. Love him or hate him, he speaks his mind and is entertaining - that's media.

And Barkley can see insightfully, even if it is less than eloquently stated, break down a team or a game and get to what is essential to understanding a game.
May is fine. Louis Riddick is the real rising Pitt football analyst these days. Very smart, to the point, very articulate.
