Thank god he didn't end up here, he literally just floats around the 3 point line all game and takes ridiculous shots while playing no defense on the other end .. How is he even seeing minutes right now ?

He's a chucker, and currently not a very good one. Our recruiting needs a major boost, but I'm glad he went elsewhere. He would just make our team worse.
Rowans dad cut a deal with NC States coach. you have to guarantee he will play. money changed hands. the NC State coach has to play him or Rowans Dad will tell the NCAA about the bribe.
If I played for NC State, and Rowan was on the floor, I would quit.

you would rather have Rowan than Smith, because he has four years to develop. If you had to watch Rowan play for Pitt, or play with Rowan THIS year, you would be on suicide watch.
I can't say I'm glad he didn't end up here. He's playing so many minutes because NC State doesn't have anyone else, and he's simply playing more minutes than he should as a freshman.
But for a freshman, he's done just fine, and he'll get better.

We'd also have a bad team and he'd probably have similar out put as Rowan.

He is pretty one dimensional, for sure. I really do wonder what Johnson's numbers would look like in the exact same situation. You'd have to think they would be similar.

I agree, he is a one dimensional player. Another thing that will hurt his development is the loss of Cat Barber. Without him next season, he will be missing contested shots instead of open ones.

I don't know DT, Rowan sounds like someone who would exacerbate our current problems rather than help solve them. We don't need another all offense and no defense player. And as others said, Cam Johnson isn't all that different than him as far as skill set and without all the recruiting drama associated with them
Though I admit I can't really compare their defense as I almost never watched NC State play besides when they thrashed us.
How is that possible? He has a good shot albeit not defense but better than pur guards who have no o or d.
he is a spot-up shooter. He can't get his own shot! His handle and quicks make him all shot and no drive to the bucket. We already have smith and Johnson, we don't need another one that can't play defense! Cam is the same player and I would argue has just as much or more upside if we get a decent point guard and a solid 5 in here to cover our current deficiencies.
More to the point, he's similar in profile to the players that are causing our current woes rather than the solution. We need more players who care on the defensive end and less who take tough jumpers.
Heck, he's not even that good at what people say he's supposedly good at. His 3-point % is .330. Out of Pitt players with 20 or more attempts, five have a better percentage than that.
If he was at Pitt, people would be ripping him even worse. Since he isn't here, people are wishing we had him. Or saying things like "he's only a freshman, he'll improve". In the last dew days I have seen people saying Wilson is no good and doesn't look like he'll pan out. The hypocrisy and lack of self awareness on this site is never ending. Heck, the same people have started writing off Nix, Kithcart and Manigault already, and they haven't even played one game yet.
With or without him, this team still lacks an inside presence. This team is an ACC-level center away from being very good. Right now, that position is staffed with a group of capable role players, which isn't enough to overcome times when spots 1-4 aren't playing at the top of their games.
Agree, with him or without him, we aren't improved as a team. I am not going to deride him, but he doesn't really improve what we're weak at.
He is Pistol Pete without the good shot, passing or driving abilities……which just leaves shooting often.
