Did anyone read the article from the beat writer (probably PGHsportsnow) that said they think he could transfer? I hope not. Even landing Femi, we need 4 ACC level scholarship guards. But I’m not sure how we could land Femi or why we’d be pursuing him unless someone is leaving. Thoughts?

We need a solid point guard. The two spot will take care of itself.

Ive seen others talking about that.
I could see it but would much rather see Murphy go, obviously.
I wouldn't be upset if Brown & Murphy left.
People are speculating based off of zero knowledge, and are just speculating because it's probable someone is transferring but everyone is just making guesses.

Wow, this is a shocker! Just kidding of course. Its very obvious that either Johnson or McGowens are going to transfer. Maybe both. To be honest, if I could pick 3 to keep, it would be Champagnie, Toney, and Johnson. If we just lose McGowens, I'd consider that a win. But I think it could be 2 of the 4.

They’re not gonna lose Champagnie. He’s playing 30 mins a game!

Why leave when you are playing over 35 minutes a game?

Since you don’t have to sit out a year, would you rather play for a rebuilding Pitt team Or a team like Villanova or Butler? I fear that we are going to lose multiple starters.

Lol why would he even being suggesting things? I should suggest that Tshibwe is transferring

Pretty much my feelings, too. DK's site is likely about as unreliable a source for information about Pitt hoops as there could be. Anybody can take a SWAG That's one of the biggest issues with the blogging that goes on today. Lots of irresponsibility, unsubstantiation and lack of professionalism. But there are people that will believe - and spread rumors about - what they see on crap sites like that. "It was on the Internet, so it must be true!"

This is setting up like a classic SMF prediction. He’s made several loosely related predictions that anyone from 1-4 players will leave. He’s thrown so many different scenarios out there that, IF, Trey leaves he will claim he’s 100% right even though he’s not.

Nostradamus made a living doing this! Maybe there are some copycat posters on here? ;)

So they have a Hoopie covering Pitt sports. There aren’t too many WV grads out there that don’t dislike Pitt.

Agree. But very, very typical of what goes on with a lot of the media here in the area. Infested with nits and hoopies. Just another awareness issue.

My prediction is 1 out of 4.

I am not predicting exactly who. However, if I had to guess, I'd say either Johnson or McGowens. I also wouldn't be surprised if both leave.

I'm the only person out here practically guaranteeing we are losing 1 of the 4 and maybe 2 of the 4. Everyone else is convinced they're all coming back because they play a lot. So yea, when 1 of these guys transfer, you best believe I'm taking credit.

That's not true.
Lots of people know & said we are probably losing at least one.

The - a player doesn't have to sit out a year when transferring rule is a really bad idea and will hurt teams like PITT attempting to rebuild.

Not good!

This rule helps the top programs not programs on the way up attempting to get some traction!

If a player has an issue with a coach at the end of the season just quit and play for another team.

Should not have an impact on Pitt this season since If rule change takes place it will not be in effect for another year.

Why didn't you mention that to Pitt5593.

So I guess Pitt5593 has no freaken idea what he's posting.

You can get better information from people in the witness protection program than on this site??

Vuk and the boys sure do love their clickbait material.

It might end up happening but pure conjecture at this point

Actually it was a hoopie who they assigned to cover Pitt for DK's site who spitballed that. I'd take it FWIW.

He did not say he was leaving. The question was asked could u see johnson or trey leaving after this year. The answer was maybe with horten probably going to start it’s possible that trey might want to go for sure where he feels he is the man. Their has been rumors of possible him looking and I would think that has been coming from friends of his etc that he is wondering what will happen next year and it’s because of his play. His play has not been to a point where u would like it to be. If we don’t get the last two guys their are graduate transfers there are many ways Capel can go and it’s possible with the rule change Capel and trey might be on same page with him leaving but than again it just takes a little dedication and his shot to start falling and for him to get on same page to capel to make it work.

Butler won't be rebuilding next year? How many minutes do you think Trey would get at Nova?

If any of the starters playing 30 plus minutes a game want to leave, they should help them pack their stuff. They're the ones playing. I mean, it's not like they're on the bench watching others lose the games.

Any of those four guys would be dumb to transfer.

After watching the game, I put the odds at 70% McGowans leaves. Just a hunch really, if he was dialed in he wouldn't have clanked those two free throws at the end. Something off with his game, plus maybe homesick a bit? SC a pretty good distance from here. The Capel comments on Horton also. Plus his family made comments after fans were critical of him during slump beginning against Clemson last year. A change of scenery may be the best thing for him, like Marcus Carr.

I doubt Johnson, Toney or Champaigne leaves.

I wouldn't pat yourself on the back too hard since this isn't really a bold prediction when you analyze things a little closely the past few weeks. Many could come to this conclusion, you were the most vocal about it.

That's what I thought, too. But I also thought I was wrong so I didn't open my mouth.

That would NOT be a good move on Trey's part, if he wants to play and get better. Sitting out a year would do more harm than good.

Who cares what you are predicting? There probably is a chance that one guy leaves, but I'm not going to go throw that out there, nor donI want it to happen.

That's a good point. He was the first player in the history of basketball to clank two free throws.

Also, since Champagnie clanked two foul shots shortly before McGowens did he's probably leaving as well.

Wait, that if Champagnie clanked his two foul shots shortly before McGowens then that means that McGowens WASN'T the first player in the history of basketball to clank two free throws. He was the second.

So your not playing up to what you think is your potential , but your still seeing 35 minutes a game . You have your hands on the ball in crucial possessions , what more could you ask for ?

Is it the coaching he’s receiving that has made his perimeter shooting and on court decision making so erratic ?

Does he need to seriously work on his 3 pt shooting and midrange game if he’s ever to play meaningful pro ball , you betcha .

As someone mentioned until he can shoot better I’m not sure that his value ( or even X’s ) is all that great . What major program wants guards who make a lot of mental errors who aren’t great shooters ?

If X and Trey want to transfer down there would be plenty of options ,but think Duke , UNC , OSU , Michigan etc want them over a promising freshman ?

Both X and Trey need to accept the fact that they need to take responsibility for their poor sophomore years and really work hard on their areas of need and come back and have great junior years .
