This meeting was called two months ago. Certainly one of the topics would have been the coaching search, but other things would have been discussed as well. I don’t think they have hired anyone.
Lyke knew this meeting was to get Miller in as coach and an on campus stadium for football but she hired a coach before the meeting could happen. She also is bringing back dynocat.
My sources are telling me that there were conflicting choices of pizza toppings, meeting was canceled to avoid the situation from escalating.
It's Friday during lent there should have been no meat options...
What else could the reason be?
Word is that the meeting was cancelled BECAUSE of the search. Several of the people involved in the search didn't want to take time away from the search process - they're busy actually trying to hire a coach - and didn't want to sit in a long, boring university meeting. I used to work for one. Meetings are deadly, at all levels. And like 99% of them, this one wouldn't have been productive either.
Thats not entirely true. While that was certainly a topic, you acting like that was the reason for this meeting is patently false

Next meeting in August to look for new shades of blue and gold.
They were gonna talk about leveling the Pete and going back to an on campus stadium but decided to hold off until they ink a coach.

Near the end of his career, and has a spottier resume than Stallings. I bet we give HIM the $3.5M for 10 years and guarantee THAT!
He's 55. Not sure what made Stalling resume that spotty, but who out there has a less "spotty" resume than Stallings that is in play.
Pitt did a rare thing in college hoops and let go of their coach after only 2 seasons. Also did a rare, unexpected thing for Pitt, who are normally cheap and gave Stallings a huge buy out and offered a huge deal to an up and coming coach.
All those marks do not add up to Pitt settling on Schmidt and would be highly disappointing if it happens.

There is major paranoia. This is the time of the year EVERY year that the Boards meet. It wasn't just called because the mbb coaching search is in shambles (or in some eyes' it is).
