Miami game thread

They are playing fine if they weren’t shooting so poorly

They have 28 points in the paint and are 16-36 shooting 2s and at least 10 of those misses have been bunnies or dunks and that doesn’t count the others where they were fouled and didn’t finish

This was a more enjoyable game to watch, and not just because they won, but they played more as a team then as individuals

Didn't get to watch it. I picked Pitt by 7 and that's about what it was. I am guessing we didn't play great and I see we kept our 1st Half deficit streak alive. That's now 16 straight P5 games where we have trailed by 6+ in the 1st Half and 15 of the 16 have been by 8 or more.

But we won and that's all that matters. Sometimes winning becomes contagious. Beat Syracuse. Win in South Bend (which we never do), beat GT and then go to Louisville to play for the NCAAT. It's possible that we can be going into that Lou game with something to play for.

Not a tournament team but that was enjoyable to watch. Next few are winnable games

Being up 15 in the 1st Half vs Wisconsin, I thought, man, this might be a Sweet 16/Elite 8 team. Then we proceeded to give up 68 points in 26 minutes, which is difficult to do against no defense at all. Ever since then, it's been downhill with the small blip of the 2nd Half/OT in Columbus

They did play well but didn’t shoot well inside the paint - could have been a 20 points in win

Pitt wasn’t a great defensive team in their first 14 games but their offense carried them. Even against Louisville, their offense kept them in it. Since then, they have struggled to move the ball, shoot well and score. They scored 86 and 83 against Cal and Stanford but in the 8 games since Louisville, have only broken 75 points only once. They are 3-8 when they score 75 points or less this year.

1000% correct. No HeroBall. Was it perfect? Not at all but, The Enemy of Perfect Isn't The Good.

The guys played together, as a team. They were involved and it showed. Is Miami really good? Of course not but, they are athletic and they too are division 1 players so I don't care. It's a victory that we needed.

If they had played like this against UNC down there, UVa, and possibly Wake they have a really good chance to win those games. Those three are going to haunt them after the season.

Yea, that's the thing. We've never played D of defended but our offense was working well. When our offense went south, we weren't really capable of winning.

Dunn isn’t coming back .
it’s forcing us to play more guys - which seems to be a good thing

If we were a team of stars, I get having a short bench. But it’s a team of streaky players, and backups with some ability.

Which to me means you have to use what you have as opposed to continuing to hope the good version of our guys reappear. To me, that was the mistake of this year.

Well, we lost Dunn early in that game, so it was somewhat understandable that we didn't defend well after that. Tonje went off on us in the 2nd half. We had no answer. On air they were saying JC was pointing to the Dunn thumb injury as the turning point in the season. Personally, I think it's an excuse.

He did not understand Lowe, Leggett and Dunn are unplayable together. Too much of the same.

He let Lowe become too important.

Those are the whys.

Crazy, with how many inside shots/layups we missed, that we had a 34-20 edge in Points in the Paint.

You can't give up 68 points in 26 minutes to anyone. Seriously, that wouldn't even be good enough vs LeBron & Luka. They scored on almost every possession.

I believe Pitt was up by 2 at the half
