One of the best from one of the top football states.Yet people say Pitt coaches can't recruit or get the great players.
Oh and three under armour all American players.

Doing that at the highest level in Florida is remarkable.

How did this kid slip away from The Big Three?

but, but, but he's only a 3 star. Can't be that good.

How did this kid slip away from The Big Three?
-Simple. He did not play a lot prior to the season and he worked his ass off last offseason. And he's 6'2 with 4.4 speed, one of those athletes that when the light goes on its over for the defense. That's why all those schools were down there in December including sec schools. He didn't name which sec schools as he was firm with Pitt per his video interview. Smart kid that actually values education a lot. Steal of the year in recruiting.

This is a fan poll and between the other 4 guys they had 0 P5 offers.

I think Smith can be good, but this fan poll doesn't mean anything about him as a big time prospect.

I would bet 15k of the voters were pitt fans who have never watch him play. People were bragging on the pay board regarding how many times they voted. The volume and qty were unreal

-he plays in 8a Florida and had more yards and TDs than any other wr in the entire state in the same division. That includes Jerry Jeudy a 5 star wr headed to Alabama in the same exact Florida classification. Anything else?

Florida players aren't a guarantee by any means, but all other things equal, if we can't get all the best prospects locally (and we never can), then I do like to see Florida, Ohio, and Jersey guys.

This isn't an award--it's a fan's poll of which of the nominees the fans that follow that website think should be the MVP. This website will select its all-state teams and MVPs next week using its own metrics and panelists. Not pointing this out to diminish Smith in any way, but to once again call you out on your incessant, unnecessary exaggeration and misinformation.

Also, for some perspective, none of those offensive players are even top 150 2017 prospects in Florida per your personal recruiting bible, 24/7. Smith as the #182 prospect in the state of Florida is the highest rated of the nominees listed on the site, and he is the only player on that list that received and accepted a Power 5 offer.

Here are where the others are going:

QB Mike Dean, Vero Beach 1.06% (348 votes)--USF

QB AJ Colagiovanni, Manatee 40.99% (13,461 votes)--Stetson

RB Logan Wright, Sandalwood 0.57% (186 votes)--Georgia Southern

Gabe Davis, Seminole (Sanford) 2.2% (722 votes)--UCF

Again, this isn't to diminish Smith, it's to call out more of your false advertising on this board.

-In 8A you should actually look up some stats. 8A Florida is absolutely loaded with talent. Start with the 5 star WR headed to Alabama who is in the same dam class and division as Smith.

8a Florida WR's. This is just 8A players that made All State. Some of you need to get with reality that Florida blows the friggin doors off Pennsylvania, especially the Top football division in the state of Florida. There is better talent in 1 division at 1 position in Florida that could compete with all divisions and positions in Pennsylvania when comparing high end talent pound for pound. Players in Smith's division that made All State in 8A.

Jeudy-5 Star-Bama
Gammage-4 Star-Miami
Henley- 4 Star-Undecided
Pope- 4 Star- Alabama
Milton- 3 Star- Iowa State
Dolcin-3 Star-Kentucky

-So now you idiots know what type of talent there is in 8A Florida at WR, 1 position in 1 classification on the field.

Not sure that you're talking about, but I'm talking about one thing--your misrepresentation to this board that Smith had won a Florida 8A POY award. No, he had the most votes out of a handful of nominees for 8A POY in a fan poll on a website. The other players nominated for 8A POY were all mid-major signees. Despite the prospect rankings, this group of players had great years statistically and with team success, that's why they are nominated for POY. But that doesn't mean they are the best or most talented prospects in Florida. None of them are even on that list. Smith is the highest, and he is ranked 182 in the state of Florida by 24/7. Using your own twisted metrics you want people on this board to believe he is one of the top prospects in the state. You slant and exaggerate everything you post to support your own agenda. You will be called out when you do so.

-I use 3 metrics. Measurables, Dominance, Offers

Measurable

6'2 215lb WR Athlete with 4.4 Speed- A+

Dominance

1700 yards with 26TD's, best in the entire State of Florida regardless of class and he plays in the toughest division- A+

Offers

Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Washington State among others- C+

-Considering Smith has only played football 2 seasons and you, your buddy Jflipper, and the rest of the country has never heard of this player until about November of this year, that is how a recruit flys under the radar. 4.4 Speed Pal. Keep your Weah predictions silent moving forward.

-Smith was Also voted All State in Florida, along with Drake and Davis. And that wasnt a poll, those are official All State selections.

Easy there, Kithcart. Before last year I didn't think Weah had it, and I still don't think he's the world's greatest wideout just based on his high YPC, but I wasn't the one who said Ruben Flowers was going to come in, keep Weah on the bench, and dominate due to his "elite speed" etc. Also, remind me who it was that said this:

-My expectations for Weah are next to zero. He couldnt catch in high school, and 3 years at Pitt has proved nothing. At some point you have to catch the ball and show something. If he's our #2 WR, that is bad unless he miraculously has found new stick'm to catch the ball.

is there no Justice in this world???????

And Weah has a breakout year, filled an important role, was a valuable player, but he still has iffy hands, which showed throughout the year.

-That statement is pure accuracy. He never could catch until this year. BUT, as I said all along, he was a major athlete with speed and if he ever could catch, look out. No one had expectations because he never proved anything, anywhere, prior to this season. However, anyone with a clue understood the key word "potential" because he is a pure athlete.

-The 5 star Alabama recruit, in the same exact division and class as Smith, put up 975 yards and 15 TD's.

-Smith almost doubled him in yards and TD's, lol. Gotta love it.
And those stats alone mean Smith was the better player, right, genius? Donovan Poeples-Jones, the #1 ranked receiver prospect in the country, only had 1075 yards and 17 TDs. So Smith is better than him too, right?

Yeah, judging a player by high school numbers is a futile excessive. QB play is so wildly inconsistent at that level that stats mean next to nothing.

-Aaron Donald had a Pitt offer a lone and was a 2 star and is the best defensive player in the entire NFL right now by a mile right now. Spare me the Alabama is great bullshit because of some stupid ranking. It means shit. Pure Athletes always pass up everyone else when the light goes on, that is how it goes. What's Donald's 40 time for a DT, 4.6? LOL

-My point on Smith is he has the "it" factor to be big time. And the "it" factor dominated Florida high school football this year at the highest level blowing the doors off statistically of every other WR in the entire state of Florida.

I'd like to see what you had to say about AD when he was just a 2 star verbal to Pitt. I'll bet it wasnt like what you had to say about Keyshawn Camp.

High School players with breakout senior seasons are almost always under rated by those who hand out the stars. Add at least one star in your mind to what those who hand out the stars have given in such cases. The star assigners are pretty good at rating kids who have already looked great as sophs and juniors and at all-star summer camps but they aren't too good on late bloomers.

Sounds like Alabama should have processed Jeudy and took Michael Smith...bama or all the Florida schools who did not offer must not know what they are doing

I'd rather have a fan like steel as opposed to some of you.

No offense but holy shit. You don't always have to be the one that keeps it real it's more like a gigantic wet blanket.

You aren't getting street cred you're just a dipshit with an internet name like everyone else.

-Probably should have. Top 5 WR's in the P5 this year in yards and TD's

1) Dede Westbrook- 4 Star- Oklahoma
2) Amba Etta Tawo- 2 Star- Syracuse
3) James Washington 3 Star- Oklahoma State
4) Mike Williams 4 Star- Clemson
5) Chad Hansen 0 Star- Cal

-What do these players have in common? 4 of the 5 were track stars and all 5 of them are athletes. ATHLETES

-Save the star ranking. Give me the frigging track star and athlete with size.

Actually your statement he couldn' catch until this year is ignorant and ludicrous. Hell the kid showed he could catch in high school. His emergence this year is a result of a kid waiting his turn and then taking full advantage.

-He had 1400 yards and 13 TDs in is high school career playing football in Wisconsin. Those numbers suck and Wisconsin high school football sucks compared to powerhouse states. He was and is a big time athlete, however.
