Michael Smith Player of the Year in Florida on a runaway Vote of over 18,000 voters

Your OPINION is duly noted. Rivals rankings are horsesh*t. They have Lamont Wade as the #1 CB and a top 10 national prospect. Every other site...not even close. I would bet that you've never seen a game of CCCAA football...probably haven't seen a NJCAA football game.
I have seen NJCAA because I had friends and teammates play there for various reasons.

However, what other data points do you have to say the talent is similar (or better) in CCCAA? Other recruiting site (I count 247 having 82 of 100 from NJCAA for 2016 and 81 of 100 for 2017) rankings? Total FBS signings?

The CCCAA has more than 1/2 of 2 years schools who field football teams. There are 2 Junior College/Community College Athletic Associations nationally, the NJCAA and the CCCAA. The CCCAA fields 71 football teams and the NJCAA fields 67 football teams. Being a CCCAA AA certainly equates to being a NJCAA AA. Lopes had to compete against more players from more teams to earn his honor.
You and Ripper are both wrong to some degree on this issue and you're both right to some degree. The California JUCO association is huge and has produced plenty of studs. However, many of the powerhouse JUCO teams are not in California. In fact, Dodge City, Butler CC, and Garden City CC all in Kansas alone have produced a shitload of P5 and NFL players. There are powerhouse JUCO programs in Texas and in the south as well. Some of those programs have 8-10 future P5 level players on them every year.

Here's ESPN's top 50 JUCOS in this class--of the 50, it looks like about 8-10 or so are from the CCCAA, 4 in the top 25:

I'm not denying CCCAA has some talent. They just are much, much less competitive and being 1st team in CCCAA is much, much easier than NJCAA. The Rivals, 247, and ESPN numbers all back that up. It is akin to the difference between being named a NJ or CA or PA, etc. All State player and being named a National HS All American. Congrats on both, but two very, very different levels of competition and achievement for the honor, despite the fact both produce legitimate players to the next level.

-It is way harder to make all state in Florida then it is in Pennsylvania or just about any other state you want to use because of the overall talent difference. I can only imagine how bad a team like Central Catholic would get whipped by an elite Florida team. It would be a complete beat down because of the talent and speed differences. Florida could challenge a US national team. Making All State in Florida is a huge accomplishment at the high level big school classifications. It isn't some rinky dink accomplishment like you are implying. Like I said, Florida has better talent in 8a at one position then the entire state of Pennsylvania has at all positions. And I'll put a Florida team up against a US national team.

I would say that is due to the geography and the amount of coverage provided by more local reporters/analysts to various parts of the country where they reside, instead of one state with most of the schools and more players.

-Just to put this in perspective, Florida has 52 four and five star recruits in the 2018 class currently. I'm not going to even count the three stars because there are tons of them. There was one Florida school this year from 8a that had over 20 D1 players from 1 school.

You think the 4 to 1 ranking disparity is explained by regional bias? How about the offers and scholarships? You think coaches are choosing not to recruiting some kid from Reedley and instead want to focus on a kid going to Hutchison CC in Hutchison, KS, who was originally from South Carolina, because the recruiting sites are giving them biased and preferential coverage?

You know a lot of these schools play now, right? The best schools from the best states play in 7on7s and out of region games every year. Beyond that, what the hell is your point? Do you read what you respond to? I didn't even mention Florida. Are you high?

No matter what getting a player of the year out of Florida is very impressive for a team like Pitt, which plays in a completely different temperature, no beach near us and all these charming fans that frequent this board

Smith isn't a Florida POY Stache. Curtain cited an online fan poll. That was the point of most of this thread-another misrepresentation by Curtain.

Yeah who would want to laud a Pitt football recruit when we can pile on and attempt to degrade another Pitt poster. Brilliant.

So you don't care if the information you're being fed is false or inaccurate? You'd rather just hear what you want to hear? You want believe Smith has been named Florida 8A POY, when he has not been?

Small wonder this country is where it is right now.

It's impressive enough that Smith put up the numbers he did, and that he's one of the handful of players (most of whom were not P5 level signees) that have been nominated for the award. But no, that's not good enough, we need to take that piece of information and blow it up to HE'S THE FLORIDA 8A POY!!!!!! PITT GOT THE FLORIDA 8A POY OVER FSU, UF, MIAMI, AND EVERY OTHER MAJOR PROGRAM IN THE COUNTRY (that never offered or considered him)!!!!! THAT'S HUGE, THAT'S IMPRESSIVE!!!!!!!!!!

I swear, the Lair is friggin' Breitbart Sports.

You sure Meat Curtain is the poster you want to hitch your credibility wagon to?

In fairness,he is basically the Donald Trump of the Lair. He just doesn't have the money or power or Melania.

Agreed. No reason for someone to lie/misrepresent over and over on it.

-Did you email Chris Peak and ask him to change his headline on the premium board with regards to Smith being 1st Team All State in Florida? Or are you just being a clown again?

I do not pay for the premium board anymore, so no. However, I imagine Chris didn't say it was "per sportswriters" because Chris is usually careful not to lie or misrepresent things. You are the complete opposite. Amazingly, you even did it in a thread where you had already been called out about it.

The sportswriters placed him 2nd team 8a. A great accomplishment.

-There is the headline. I dont pay for premium either, but I can see the headline. I think you should email him.

First-team all-state honors for Michael Smith
Chris Peak, Today at 2:50 PM

My point is Steelcurtain is an embarrassing homer. People act like this kid is the second coming of Jerry Rice. He is a nice pickup but if he were everything Steelcurtain says he is every one of those schools would have offered, not none

-Recognize these players? That's a biletnikoff winner for the best WR in college football, a Superbowl champion, and a Big East defensive player of the year. Oh, they are from Florida. And, they have zero offers from the schools you mentioned in Florida. I wont talk about Smith in this thread anymore, but I will call you out for also being an idiot. Recruit Florida, good things will happen

But that isn't a lie. You lied and said it was "per sportswriters". You are a liar.
-You can't read. That is your problem. The website I linked is not only the largest website covering high school Football in the entire state of Florida, the website I linked is partners with USA today.

Your response is that I "can't read"? I am reading what you posted word for word. Either you can admit you lied or you should admit you can't read. My reading is a-ok. I read exactly what you post and clearly call out your lies at every turn.

You LIED! It is a website. It isn't chosen "per sportswriters" (that is the team chosen by the AP, which I posted) but instead this website alone chooses it.

And absolute LOL at "the website I linked is partners with USA today". They say "FloridaHSFootball.com is a media partner with USA Today High School Sports" but of course you leave out those last 3 words. I wonder why? Hmmmm... Way to read the website's "About Us" section though. You sure are digging to cover your lies.

In summary,
-You ( @steel_curtain ) posted the team was selected "per sportswriters"
-It was not chosen "per sportswriters" and was instead chosen by a singular website
-I post the actual team chosen "per sportswriters"
-You claim I (and I guess everyone else?) can't read because "per sportswriters" must mean "per one website, which is not an amalgam of sportswriters"
-You then misrepresent the connection with USA Today High School Sports to make that out to be some important designator

Still to come, I am sure, are more lies/misrepresentations. Can't wait to see what you cook up next.

That doesn't change the fact that you made and continue to make made numerous outright misrepresentations in this thread. The Florida sportswriters vote in the AP poll, which has Smith 2nd team in 8A--a high honor even without your trademark embellishment. This is a website run on a shoestring budget by a 25 year old guy with a bunch of high school and college "interns" that culled the all-area teams from a bunch of other Florida newspapers and social media sites, and picked their own all-state teams from that.

This operation makes Pittsburgh Sports Now look like Sports Illustrated.

-Must of duped a lot of people since he is pushing 40,000 followers. How many does Pittsburgh Sports now have, 5000? Pretty nice duping I must say.

-Viralnova was also run on a shoestring budget and was making 500K a month. Get some social media experience.

And this legitimizes the opinions of the solo guy who runs the website from his kitchen table in what way?

I have enough "social media experience" to know what information is legitimate and what isn't. Social media is not what anyone with a brain turns to for accurate factual reporting.

He was rounding up carts in the parking lot of a Target right before he started this website in 2010.

It has been established repeatedly that you have misrepresented facts and information throughout this thread. Still waiting for your explanation.

-You lied. You said Pittsburgh sports now was the next sports illustrated when this 25 year old has a following of people that is 8 times bigger.

-Wasnt Scott Delong a high school dropout? Well his 3 man team ran in the basement in the suburbs of Ohio cleared 500K a month. He sold the website for $100 million

-You clearly have zero understanding of what type of power you have with that type of massive following. Jason Zook was making over a grand a day with a mickey mouse tshirt business because he had that large of a following.

What does this have to do with you misrepresenting and lying throughout this thread and all over the board? You are a liar. Flat out. That is what you are. You can't deny it, so now you start saying other people "can't read" (even though they are directly quoting you) and talking about social media followers.

See, maybe the problem is you don't know what a "lie" actually is.

Is that really what I said?

I think we're finally honing in on the explanation for why you post the way you post.

You're out there brah. Way out there.

Ill even be nice. Jump in that sardine can of a car Flipper drives and come on out to California. Some louis cristal or louis remy martin cognac on me to lighten the mood between me and you two. You are a Pitt fan, right? Cheers, Pal!

Yeah, here is the issue:

"This operation makes Pittsburgh Sports Now look like Sports Illustrated."

Is not the same thing as:

"You said Pittsburgh sports now was the next sports illustrated"

How do you continually tell other people they "can't read" or "don't even remember what (they) post" when you are misquoting what they actually posted? I mean, the thread keeps a record and even allows you to click a button to quote posts and easily insert them in your replies. However, you obviously failed in using that feature.

Yeah, everyone buys you are a super successful guy, when you can't even figure out how to properly use the quote feature on Pantherlair and spend your days pouring over 100m track times and extrapolating exaggerated 40 times for Pitt recruits.

Why do you guys feel the need to get in protracted pissing contests? Let it go. Steel can get overly excited and enthusiastic about some things regarding Pitt football, but is it really necessary to try to bury him and not let things go? Is winning an anonymous internet argument really that important to both sides? I don't get it. Why do some have to make it so personal?
