Many places. but not all
I noticed where DePaola voted Michigan 17th this week.
Is he stupid or just lazy?
They were average against Middle Tennessee, they should have lost at home to Army but won in OT and after a week off to prepare they were outcoached, outplayed and out classed by Wisconsin....down 35-0 in the 3rd.
The only other dork to vote Michigan that high covers them.
How credible can a vote be when it is that uninformed. Pitt lost to Penn State on the road in a close game. A loss is a loss, but if PSU is 11 or 12 as DePaola voted, how can Michigan be 14 and Pitt off his radar?
The guy doesn't owe Pitt anything. He doesn't work there and they don't pay him (except in sandwiches), but he doesn't know his college football craft.
Lazy? Maybe
Stupid? Maybe
Both? That's my bet.

Michigan is looking at a tough year. big 10 is solid and they have 5 more ranked teams on their schedule and that doesn't even include a good Terps team..

iowa, psu and tosu are going to wallop them. they will be underdogs to Sparta and i cant imagine them hanging with ND too long either.. Maybe they win 1 of these games, maybe.. i'd be surprised if Harbaugh is there coach by this time next year..

probably best to keep recruiting that linebacker from Maryland who just committed to them a few months ago.

I know. That really shows how clueless some of these local sports media people are.

And some people still wonder why some Pitt fans are so suspicious of certain aspects of the local media?

He’s got a PSU agenda, rating them high means more points when the loose to The Nitters; hate homer sports writers

It annoys me whenever poll voters dont stay up for the Pac12 games. There was someone that voted for Washington over Cal last weekend and you can tell they submitted their poll the night before and couldnt wait until the game was over. Laziness

"When it comes to college football, Jerry is so knowledgeable and so insightful!" - said No One

Typical Jerry interview questions:

To Baldonado: "Do you miss your family back in Italy?"

To Ffrench: "Were you excited to score a touchdown?"

To (fill in the blank): "With the temperature approaching 90 degrees on the field, were you hot out there?"

To (fill in the blank): "When you got injured, did it hurt?"

Michigan should be at the bottom end of the Top 25. They looked like garbage against Wisky, and haven’t done anything of substance this year.

It's simple. A few years ago I looked up all of the voters and their affiliations, I had a lot of time to kill. Three quarters of the voters had Big Ten and SEC ties. If you keep Big Ten teams as high as you possibly can, then when one loses to another they can just say they lost to a ranked team. That is how Ohio State stayed in the top ten a couple of years ago when they did not deserve to be there. That is why rankings should have absolutely nothing to do with playoffs or bowls or anything. This is also why they need to go to eight teams, take the conference championship game winners and then they can all fight over the last three spots. If Notre Dame doesn't want to join a conference then they have to fit in the last three spots. As long as these voters have ties to certain conferences and show bias in their voting because of those ties, it will never be fair.

OK. All true, but Jerry DiPaula did not attend a Big Ten school. He went to Point Park. He has always covered Pittsburgh sports. So not sure this 'agenda' applies.

This starts with the pre-season "how do they look in their jock straps" votes.
It's the equivalent of pole position. If you are unranked and go 5-0 you might climb to 14. Fall your next game and you're down to 24. But if you are ranked 4 pre-season and feast on cupcakes and rarely leave your state, you lose the 6th game and you're down to 14 at worst. Two weeks later you're back in the top ten.
Total bull especially when clowns like JD (and he is not alone as the above post proves) guess.

POST SCRIPT. Someone tell DePaolo that the team coming in this week wears the same uniforms as the UofM. Otherwise, he will be confused.

That strategy has really paid off for the B1G come playoff time.

I thought it was ridiculous when they had Nebraska ranked preseason. They had a rough go against South Alabama then lost the nExt week against Colorado. Big 10 bias for certain.

I like Jerry but that is ridiculous. I can't believe B1G bias is still this strong. Jerry needs to be called out on this. Good post.

If you look at what they have actually done on the field rather than how good people perceive that they should be then they wouldn't be in the top 25 at all. Or really, even being considered for it.
