I remember that play. He did have an opportunity to tie Nelly up, but clearly didn't, and then he definitely committed a foul. The pic makes that fairly obvious.

I thought the game was poorly officiated on both sides but didnt have the luxury of replays.
I’ll admit to be a bit of a homer but Miss st was playing a very physical on ball defense and got away with a lot of hand checking and body contact. To the panthers credit they didn’t whine much and didn’t let it get them off their game
Well given that Howland was there until this year that isn't surpring. IT's how Pitt played D under the Howland/Dixon regime.
when MSU made their last 3 from the corner their player, who was setting the screen, picked up
the Pitt guy ( think it was Nelly ) and carried him over the end line. They let both teams get away
with a lot but most tourney games are officiated that way.
