I've heard 2 ESPN analysts state this. Assuming its true. The one said he didnt agree with it because they dont control the tickets. Does anyone know the rules for road games because I've posted Pitt should play a "road game" at Duquesne. Do you have to play a certain number of games at that home court?

Utah State got a neutral site win to count as Q2 by beating San Francisco in Salt Lake City, where there is a heavy USU alumni base. And basically everyone in Utah lives within an hour of SLC. Speaking of San Fran, a home game got counted for them vs Gonzaga at the Warriors arena. My guess is there were more Gonzaga fans, not that that matters.

They are being treated as home games. It's a strange situation They are definitely more familiar with the venue than the other Big East teams but they don't have the crowd

not sure if this still applies as it’s dated - it’s also confusing as one would expect from the NCAA

So much of this is just stupid, hair splitting BS. The Committee didn't go by straight "metrics" WRT the BCS four. Hopefully they add in some common sense along with the metrics in selecting the Tournament field now.

To be honest it's horrible, anal, convoluted BS, would be better just to decide the way they did 30-40 years ago, decide power conference teams by records add lesser conference champions and exceptional no-champs, and drop all the Qs and NETs and KENPOM GARBAGE. Like if power conference Pitt is 21-10 with a double bye and 4th place, then they beat 18-14 Nova based on that, Get rid of the metrics. It's not accurate. Pitt and Nova are proof, Pitt is clearly more deserving, but the metrics crap favors Nova.

Dont know if thats still accurate and its not super clear but it would seem we can count a game vs Duq at PPG as a road game as long as they play "some" other games there AND they are the home team for tickets. So do it

The problem with that is that Duquesne doesn't play any other games at PPG.

I must admit though, I am shocked that anyone would consider a team playing a game on the court where that team plays almost all of it's home games as a home game for that team. Who could possibly think that?

Well, I mean unless a person has some level of common sense. If they have that then it makes perfect sense.

Well, part of the deal would be that Duquesne has to guarantee us they play X amount of games at PPG so we can count it as a road game. They can play VCU and Dayton there or maybe they can talk a WVU or PSU into playing there like they have in the past.

As for SJU, there's no way a tournament where you dont control the tickets should be a home game. If it was like some of these other tournaments like the NEC and Patriot where you truly host the game, then yea. But not a neutral site tournament.

Why would Duquesne agree to that? They spent all that money on an arena, and then all that money to renovated it, just so they wouldn't have to play at PPG any more.

And MSG is, in fact, St. John's home court. It really can't be any more clear than that.

SJU plays some games on campus. And why would Duquesne agree? Their arena seats 4000 people. If they can cash a check for a game attended by 15K people 2 blocks away PLUS maybe getting a nice crowd for VCU and Dayton, it would make financial sense.

If it made great financial sense, why did they ever move their games back on campus in the first place?

In fact, they made that move precisely because it doesn't make financial sense for them to play at PPG.

Joe, buddy. It doesn't make financial to play primarily at PPG. It makes a lot of sense to play Pitt there as a home team where they can sell 15K tickets. Would that mean they only get 3000 for VCU and Dayton and lose a little on rent? Sure, but they also could draw more for those games and the Pitt home game more than makes up for it. It could also be part of a financial strategy by Duq to play some bigger teams at PPG, selling those teams on helping their NET in a neutral setting. WVU, PSU, maybe even an Ohio State (probably not). But more teams will want to game

It makes financial sense to play Pitt there in a game where Pitt sells 8-10,000 tickets for them. And that doesn't happen if it's a Duquesne home game. Duquesne played six home games at PPG the year they were renovating their arena. They averaged 3,100 per game. The last time the played a non-Pitt big name team at PPG was Penn State in the 18-19 season. Game attendance, 2,537. The last time they played West Virginia there attendance was 6,244.

It really is amazing how you can completely ignore reality in order to concoct your goofy schemes.

2 questions:

If Duquesne plays a home game vs Pitt at PPG? What will the attendance be?

If they play a neutral site game there, what will the attendance be?

My answers: the exact same

No, they won't, because if it's a Duquesne home game then Pitt is not selling 8,000 tickets (or whatever the number would be) for the game. The reason why so many people had tickets for those games in the past is because they were Pitt season ticket holders, and that game was a part of their season ticket package. Plus there were 1,000 Pitt students there, which would not be the case if it was a Duquesne home game.
