The D gave up a lot of yards tonight, but it came up big on those last two UNC possessions.
I thought we were in big trouble going into the OT. The key play offensively was the 3rd and 9 pass to Mack. How many times have we seen Pitt throw a 3rd down pass short of the chains and the receiver not make the sticks? This time, Mack got turned upfield, in large part because of where Pickett threw the ball, and fought for the needed yardage.
Narduzzi finally got Stocker off the field late in regulation and in the OT. He was getting absolutely abused by Newsome. The only time he was in the same area code as Newsome was when he got called for the PI. Newsome was open on that last play against Pinnock and Jackson in a zone defense because they were playing too deep. They should have been right at the goal line or at most a yard in. Fortunately, it looked like Alexandre tipped either the ball or Howell’s arm.

thats a couple times this year when they were on the verge of pittimg but turned it around.
