Movie OT: Arrival (spoilers)

A Thin Red Line is the superior war movie. In fact, much better imo. If it weren't for John Travolta I might consider it the top war based movie ever.
Sometimes, there is no accounting for taste, but to each his own.
 
Sci-fi as a genre is renowned for social commentary. It's difficult to name all-time sci-fi flicks not steeped in social commentary.

Sci-fi has always been a way of discussing and dissecting current social issues by disguising them with "future" or "aliens" to make the ideas more palatable. That's why so many Twilight Zone episodes still hold up today, because they focused on very approachable and universal issues (e.g., Eye of the Beholder).
