Thirteen things on my wish list for a perfect holiday season for Pitt sports:

1. Pitt accepts a bid in the Russell Athletic Bowl against WVU.

2. Prior to the bowl game, Oregon announces that Dana Holgorsen is their new head coach. Interim coaches run WVU for the bowl game and they have no answer for Pitt's offense in a 52-41 Pitt win.

3. Pitt's 9-4 final record leaves them ranked 16th in the final post-bowl rankings.

4. PSU loses badly to Wisconsin, then gets beaten in the Cotton Bowl by Navy (Yes, Navy - after WMU is upset in the MAC title game). PSU's 10-4 mark leaves them ranked 17th.

5. Clemson beats OSU by 3 TDs and then upsets Alabama in the title game. Clemson becomes the second ACC champion in 4 years, and their 13-1 record forever has that one blemish.

6. Matt Canada is given a $350,000 raise - making him the first Pitt assistant to ever make over a million dollars a year.

7. Malik Zaire decides that Pitt is it. Pitt immediately becomes the favorite to win the Coastal in 2017.

8. Lamont Wade decides that Pitt is it.

9. The momentum from the season and the buzz created by the first 8 items on this list lead to a robust recruiting boost for Pitt and they end up with a class ranked in the top 20.

10. James Conner announces that he has decided to play one more year at Pitt - citing his desire to win a championship and give back to the Pittsburgh community. It is also learned that he has taken out an insurance policy that will pay him 7 figures if he has a career-ending injury during his senior season.

11. Pat Narduzzi is given a hefty and lengthy extension.

12. Pitt hoops finishes the OOC season with a 12-1 record and cracks into the Top 25 heading into the ACC opener against the Irish on New Year's Eve.

13. Despite a brutal opening ACC schedule of ND, UVa, Syr, LVille, Miami, NCSU, LVille, Clemson, UNC, and Duke as their first 10 games... the improving Panthers make it through with a 5-5 league record (17-6 overall).

That's a great list and would be wonderful. Zaire could really pump some National juice in many ways.

Has Wade used his official visit to Pitt? It doesn't seem like he's been on campus as much as Hamlin was during the recruiting process. Also just saw that we aren't getting an official with Proctor. Does anyone have a list of 2017 guys we are still pursuing? I haven't heard much recruiting news lately. I would love to get started on the 2018 class as it seems we have gotten off to a bit of slow start there.

You know, most of that is eminently possible. If SMF made a list of 13 predictions, I'm pretty sure it would include one about David Tepper hiring 200 helicopters to move the Pete in one piece so Pitt Stadium could be rebuilt.

I want to delete #5 and hope we don't have to go so high on Canada to keep him, but otherwise a great list.

Serious question, if WMU, Navy and PSU lose, does that make a PSU vs Temple rematch in the Cotton inevitable?

We're due for a little luck?

Here is another one: Old Pitt fans realize they call them throwback unis for a reason -- they represent the past. And that the new unis are really cool, all have the script, and have nicer colors than the bright yellow of the throwbacks, and (this is important) are more attractive to recruits than the unis of the 1970s.
