" the football team became involved in the investigation after interviews with the former members of the basketball staff alleged similar activities taking place during football practice" Seriously who is the effing rat. That ahole asst who convinced the players to bail on Pitt? eff stallings and his whole crew of aholes.

The NCAA report indicates that the special assistant to the head basketball coach brought the football issue to the athletic department's attention. Matt Woodley (now an assistant coach at Drake) was the only "special assistant to the head coach" that existed under Stallings, as far as I know.

It would make sense about Woodley. He moved his family to take the Pitt job so his daughter could get treatment at Cleveland Clinic. He probably felt betrayed by Stallings and Pitt.

Yeah there's no betrayal present when you get fired for gross underperformance. We have non-sales layoffs when our salespeople fail to meet revenue. Is that the non-sales peoples' fault? Hell no, but that's life. When the failure is 0-18 scale, heads are gonna role. As the kids say it do be like that sometimes.

Right but just saying Woodley felt Stallings betrayed him by his failure to even try. And he probably felt Pitt betrayed him since he felt they needed another year. Just throwing the motive out there.

The NCAA should've never even got involved. KS is a scorned person that totally underperformed and shit the bed here. He loaded the gun and DC fired the bullets.

They would have gotten another year had the team just sucked at a regular suck level. You know, 3-4 wins in the ACC type of suck. Instead, we got epic, 100 year storm type of suck. How could he not expect for heads to roll? 0-19 :eek::eek:

KS and DC are tattletale kindergartners and I'm sure karma will get them. They better watch

The Dan Cage 36 month "Show Cause" almost makes up for the football team getting splattered. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Yeah, glad he was named. But really? Can't imagine this guy getting a job in basketball above JR High based on how unprofessionally he handled himself here. Smart people notice things like that and don't forget them. Same as in any other business.

Dan Cage is a very bitter man especially since he was to be the HC after KS retired. This was all KS and cronies getting back at HL and Pitt. Makes him look more of a POS. Common sense on this one.
Better someone ratted on the football program than the NCAA finding out on it’s own. Coverups usually don’t end well.

This was chicken shit nonsense and others have brothels, voices on wire taps etc. Plzzzzzz this was all KS and cronies trying to stir up trouble. Nothing to see move on.
Well I'm not arguing that it is bullshit. Just saying that self reporting everything was better than the NCAA nazis finding out themselves.

If only we were Arizona basketball, PSU, or SEC football, Southwest State University North Central would be totally screwed with serious sanctions. But we are Pitt. I expect huge fines, loss of scholarships and no postseason games for 10 years.

Duzz taking one for the team ... Now THAT is some straight up Italian stuff there.

I'm sure he would rather not have but missing 2 practices is nothing. To save several million (potentially), it would be worth missing a few games in my opinion.

Oh well so I guess since this guy felt like he was owed a job despite his pitiful performance then he was justified in damaging not only his employer but also co-workers in other departments.

There's no positive way to spin this on his behalf.

I'm not trying to spin it. Just giving you the motive.

If it saved a few million, then its worth Narduzzi missing 2 practices.

this is the most intelligent thing you have posted. I'm sure this is how it went down, Lyke was able to use this against Stallings to get out of the contract. Stallings & co ratted football out as revenge.

I never thought I would see an AD/coach approaching Jaynes/Hackett/Bozik levels but the whole Barnes/Stallings fiasco was pretty darned close.
