Jurk's track record and Pitt's recent history screams that we will need at least 2 QB's this season. Yarnell has an advantage of success when called on, his teammates relationships, and knowing the system. He starts out as #2 and may never relinquish it. Time will tell.
Yarnell will be the #2 QB next year. Veilleux does not have the same track record that Slovis had coming to Pitt. In 2024, the job will be an open competition between Yarnell & Veilleux. Bet on it...
If he didn't get a shot with Slovis not playing well, he isn't getting a shot next season except in case of injury.
I don’t recall Pat Hoderny but as far as Cross and Myers, I see zero similarities between them and Yarnell in background, skill set, etc.
Yarnell was a G5 level recruit and most of those dont turn out to be Pickett. Its the PSU guy or another transfer in 2024
I remember that some people were enamored with Hoderny. He saw a little playing time vs BC the year we went to the Tangerine Bowl and was never heard from again.
He'll get a shot to compete against the Canadian as the backup. Pending what the coaches see, they'll compete to start in 2024 or they'll bring in another transfer.
