FAU goes down to Bryant

Bryant's first win ever over a ranked team.

Bryant was previously 1-3 with losses to Manhattan, Rutgers and Boston U and a win over Fisher College, who is apparently an NAIA school.

Oh, and their coach just quit this past Monday.

Pitt #39 and 0.01 above #40 Miami this morning.

good benchmark games today for the ACC:
7 Tenn at Syracuse
Indiana at Louisville
FSU at UNLV
24 Virginia at Wisconsin

Unfortunately i see 2-2 at best

Indiana is really bad. Louisville could win that one if they get the loser stink off of them from yesterday.

the 20 point blowout of Virginia was disappointing. Syracuse's 20 point loss wasn't as surprising. Louisville losing was expected. At least FSU refocused and won after the Florida loss.

Looking like the ACC isn't going to be much better this year from a NET perspective.

'3 more games today including Syracuse against gonzaga (another blowout loss) and FSU vs 18 Colorado (ACC needs this win)

This may not age well, but I have a feeling FSU is going to get back on track. UNLV is not good, but FSU not as bad as UF game. With that said, I feel Pitt can stake claim to top 3 position this week in the ACC with a win over UF and either a win or close loss to Baylor. It wouldn’t shock me if they win both, but I would be discouraged if they lose to UF. FSU isn’t great and Virginia.., I don’t think they will be able to keep up with Pitt scoring. Sort of like how Pitt had great defense in the past but couldn’t keep up with the Lville/Villanova teams that always had faster tempo, etc..

no shocker Syracuse was blown out but FSU picked up a nice win over Colorado.
Purdue nice win over Tennessee
Marguette over kansas

A bunch of good games today:
Pitt Fla
WVU vs Virginia
Ga tech vs cincy

OOC
Tenn Kansas
Purdue Marquette

So after the game last night, Pitt falls to 51 in KenPom and 58 in Torvik. Florida at 20 and 25. Oregon State at 170 and 181.

After BC lost to Colorado State yesterday, Colorado State blasted number 8 Creighton today. UNC falls to Nova.

Not sure really anything's changed. ACC looking like Duke, Miami, UVa (suck but great coaching), Clemson, Pitt. UNC or NC State for 6

While a quad 3 opp, it is a neutral site game, which has slightly more weight along with road wins. So not Baylor, but need to win still. A win tomorrow, Tuesday, and against WVU and they will have 3 wins against 3 other P5.

NET doesn't care if Oregon State is a P5. They are going to be Q3. Must not lose. And WVU may be Q3, even on the road if they are as bad as BballinsiderfromPitt thinks they are. Missouri lost to Jackson State. So we basically have no more opportunities for good wins. And the ACC sucks as usual so if we dont get about 4 wins vs Clem, UNC, Duke, Miami, UVa, NC St, we are in trouble

talking about net in november ? you guys should be committed ...
am i wrong ? your talking about a difference a seed from 4 to 10 , like it matters.
just beat who they line up in front of you. The thinking is what makes you lose.

I just want to get in. Nothing is guaranteed. We don't have as many "at bats" as B10, B12, and SEC teams do since our league is so weak and we won't have done anything in the non-con now.

college basketball, I feel dumb for caring so much last night.
The first loss is always the worst .
NET , bro dont lose sleep.

That isn't really true with the NET like it was with the RPI. There is no "deduction" for winning a home game or "bonus" for winning a road game in the NET.

Now whether it's a home, road or neutral site game does affect the quadrant the game goes in. Your opponent does have to be a lot higher ranked for example, for it to be a Q1 game at home versus on the road.

I didn’t say it affected the Net. It is a factor that the committee considers. Quad wins and then road and neutral. https://www.cbssports.com/college-b...-uses-to-compare-ncaa-tournament-resumes/amp/
I would much rather have beaten Florida and be playing Baylor but a neutral site win today still counts a little more than the home Q3 they already have against FGCU. A loss would be bad regardless.

A main reason Pitt got in last year was their road record.

A win today is better than than the home Q3 win over FGCU but only ever so slightly. Beating Oregon State isnt going to move Pitt a seed line or be the reason they make it or not. A loss could put them out though

Beating Oregon State today by the right number of points, probably either 30 or 15 or 8, will move Pitt's NET ranking by two spots.

So Pitt basically knocked Oregon State down to a quad 4 at 196 in KenPom, but moved up 9 spots to 42 temporarily with the blow out. The lord giveth and taketh away.

I believe in neutral site games Q3 goes all the way down to 200.

But it's way too early to be worried about which one it will be.

Oregon State is really really bad. I hope they dont go like 2-16 in the P12 and stay Q4 but its possible

I think we would have taken 1-1 before season here. Now they face a struggling Mizz. Have to win that game heading into next weekend. Baylor has hit 14/25 from 3 against UF. If Pitt had done that…

They only lost to Baylor by 14.

We beat them by 25.

I dunno. They’ll win a few home games. PAC-12 has some bad teams at the bottom, Oregon St included.

Hopefully, but to the naked eye, they looked like they might be the worst team in the ACC. Louisville has better players

Or maybe we are really good and had an off game against Florida? Who knows. All I know is we beat them much easier than Baylor did. Net loves that

You certainly do because you can only lose 2 or 3.
This Pitt team is built to boat race bad teams though. Last years team, even against bad teams, often struggled to score. This years team doesn’t have that problems.

I think we probably will have more overall losses, but less “bad” losses. And the NET will continue to love us for throttling bad teams.

This. We will be like a Big 10 or Big 12 team with losses to good teams, no bad losses, and routes against mediocre teams leading to higher net.

Teams that are good enough to make the tournament don't lose more than 2 or 3 games against Q3s and Q4s. The highest team in the NET last year that lost more than 3 of those games was 54th ranked VCU. And they played a total of 26 of those games.

Rutgers lost 5Q3 and 0 Q4. Clemson also lost 4 or so and I woulda put both of those teams in. I hate Rutgers but they had enough good wins and to me a Q1 win cancels out a Q4 loss and a Q2 wins cancels out a Q3 loss. Both of those teams had enough good wins.

The problem Pitt has its still its conference. We are going to play SO MANY Q3 games plus Missouri, WVU, we are 100% going to lose at least 2. We can get in with 3 losses. But not 4. So these next 2 games vs Missouri and WVU are almost must wins

They won’t lose any. They may not be great night in and night out, but way more balanced last year with scoring to prevail against the Q3 and Q4 teams.
