Found this powerpoint presentation from Randy Bates on how to defend the spread. Pertinent, since many were concerned about how he would defend the spread in the ACC.

The Northwestern's Defensive Philosophy emphasizes showing multiple fronts, but playing few defenses. This is different from Narduzzi's philosophy of showing one front (4-3, Cover 4) and then using the Delta package nickel on third down.
I think you can see here though that Randy Bates has pretty good experience with the Cover 4 quarters coverage so this hire makes sense for Narduzzi. I'm no expert on this stuff, but I'd like to hear @RoadToNumber10 thoughts.
