Experienced guy who has coached some good OLs. Peterson was obviously pushed out, so HCPN must think it is an upgrade. Peterson was known as a pretty good recruiters, so we might take a slight hit there, but if there is any position you can focus on a tactician and not a recruiter, it is OL coach. Time will tell how the fit is (especially for a guy who has kind of job hopped) but it seems like a pretty good hire.Borbely. What's the general feeling on this hire? He does have a ton of experience.
Is this an upgrade over the previous guy?
Yeah, that is certainly a question. My biggest question is why did Maryland put him out to pasture after one year? Was he unable to meet the demands of the job being 59? Did he have health issues? It seems odd that he would be demoted and assigned to an off field job after one season.
This is not accurate. 1st our Oline has been pretty good since Chryst second year up until last year. Our OL has been less then good for too long. Recruiting has been mediocre but even the talent we land never seems to develop. A change was needed and this guy seems to be an improvement.......we hope. For OL, development is vastly more important than recruiting hyped HS kids.
The best OL Coach in football is Dante Scarnecchia. How old is he?My biggest question is why did Maryland put him out to pasture after one year? Was he unable to meet the demands of the job being 59? Did he have health issues? It seems odd that he would be demoted and assigned to an off field job after one season.
Joe Moore, THE best O line coach in college ball for a number of years.I coached with Joe Moore for 5 years and Dan Radakovich was my mentor.
If Coach Borberly uses the techniques that Joe and bad Rad used then coach Borberly will do fine. We shall see! Motivation is important as well. Put the 2 together and our lineman could be very successful. Best of luck to the new coach!
This is not accurate. 1st our Oline has been pretty good since Chryst second year up until last year.
Just look at all our best offensive lineman over the years. Biz, Nix, Johnson, Thomas, Pinkston, Clemmons, Jacobson, Bookster. Everyone was a 4 star with a great offer list.
Recruiting talent is much more important
He also coaching in the NFL where you not putting in hours dealing with recruiting. You are not constantly texting or calling recruits. Your not traveling all across the country recruiting. You are right that time will tell but it is a red flag. The best OL Coach in football is Dante Scarnecchia. How old is he?
Time will tell on Borbely, but thanks for checking Nitter.
He doesn't coach in college and hasn't for 37 years. The best OL Coach in football is Dante Scarnecchia. How old is he?
