Decent starting lineup for next year with the current players

G- X
G- Horton
F- Champagnie
F- Coulibaly
F- Hugley

Reserves
Drumgoole
Collier
Amadasun

Remains to be seen -- Does Trey / Toney / Brown return obviously each would bolster our lineup and hopefully we return 2 of the 3 or all 3, but the latter does not seem likely.

We really need 2 Ballhandlers if Trey doesn't return, assuming we land Femi that fills one and then we would need a second G via either GT or decommit (I would prefer a GT).

With the above lineup, we get / stay young for another year and our defense will suffer the losses of Trey / Toney, I think we have a bit more ability to score the basketball consistenty with Horton/Coulibaly/Hugley joining the lineup in place of Trey/Toney/Brown/Hamilton that could offset the defensive losses.

Time will tell. Hope we have answers soon.

X, Horton, Toney, Champ, ????? I don't know who will be starting at center next year.

The lineup you just gave, without Toney or Jeffress is 5-15.

At best ... real big drop off defensively, step backward depth wise for a team that was not near deep enough ...

Assuming Trey is gone just have to find a way to make it work with Toney, and HCJC has to go get another guard, hopefully hit better than the last two one year fill ins.

Maybe? Think it all depends on what actually happens. There could be more departures. There can also be additions.

Without knowing exactly who and what their capabilities may be, would think predicting the net result of any changes could be a very inexact proposition.

I think if Trey and Toney leave -- next year looks a lot like this year.

I think if just one leaves -- we have a shot at improvement

If neither leaves we are actually a pretty good team next year.

Time will tell but for now enjoying (?) having a distraction from the Coronavirus.

If Trey and Toney both leave then we’ll probably be about as deep next year as we were this season. I expect that we’d still win a few more games though — if for no other reason than a significantly improved frontcourt, both in depth and overall talent.

I think X and Trey together are a nightmare on the court. I know Trey would be great for depth, but he and X are basically the same person and X can dribble with his head up.

Front court will be young......depends on how ready they are....
We will get scoring form Hugley and Coulibaly. We will get passing from the post. Both guys are a little shorter than you would like for defense and rebounding.

If Trey would accept a role as a supporting player then that would be great — especially for his defense. But it’s clear (IMO) from his game and attitude on the court, that he wants to (and thinks he’s good enough to) be the star. Easily more replaceable than X or Toney.

Easily. He is a SG who cant shoot and is a turnover machine. He's Cam Wright minus thr turnovers.

Hoping he can be similar to Oscar T or Kofi - those bigger bodied freshman usually have more success than the slimmer bigs.

coulibaly and a center on the court at the same time is an offensive liability. i like him but i think the days of having two bigger bodies, neither of which can create much offense, on the court at the same time is not a good idea.

If Trey and Toney leave, are we starting over now again? How long is this damn rebuild gonna last, 10 years? This is ridiculous.

A lot of ideas in this thread. IMO the one constant is we need
Toney to return, but because of Horton we can survive without
Trey.
What I would like to see is Trey returning improved and with a
positive attitude along with Toney. This gives us experience and
depth.

You need to see who we add if they allow transfers to play immediately.
I get that but right now it's a bummer any way you look at it. Capel was supposed to be this amazing recruiter and so far I'm not seeing it. Plus with the turnover of the roster in only his 2nd season and the 2 collapses in 2 seasons it's getting harder for me to have optimism that Capel is the answer here.

It's called a rebuild. It takes time to get the pieces right. Those "collapses"
you're referencing were due more to talent than anything else. The ACC
wins that we did get were due to overachievement, not talent. That IMO
is a result of Capel and what he was able to do with what he had.

Hey not so fast. Coulibaly has some post moves and is crafty. He's got "old man" game and generated a lot of offense for a freshman big playing limited minutes. I don't think he'll drop 15 a game, but I can see him in the 8-10 range regularly.

Agreed and with his and Hugley's passing ability and Champagnie's movement could create some nice triangle interior passing against Zone and man defense.

Brown will be back, Trey gone and Toney probably gone.

Rivals and 24/7 list him at 6-8. ESPN at 6-9.

Players are routinely listed as taller than they are.
He grew during the season?? I’m just quoting opposition coaches. We’re arguing over an inch??? An inch???

Chet Mason was listed universally as being 6’4” as a player. You do the math.

Take the same pic but reverse positions.
Pics are deceiving.
Fat girls on line have mastered this.
Mason might be an inch or two closer to the camera than Hugley is...but even if that's true, wouldn't that make Mason appear taller?

If every source that represented Mason's playing height to be right around 6'4" is accurate, then I think that picture shows Hugley as a solid 5, maybe even 6 inches taller. I think he'll be listed at 6'9" on the roster next year...but the important thing is that he's long enough to play the 5. The rest is semantic.

Hugley is still growing guys. They recently started calling him 6'10" in Cleveland, so I believe 6'9" is at minimum legit.
