I think next year will hinge on Nix. The last few years the biggest thing missing was a physical inside presence. Jamie's system works well inside out. If Nix can command extra attention inside, it frees everyone else up and creates lanes to the basket.
Perhaps I am missing someone, but we haven't has a physical presence inside since Gray / Blair. Zanna was a nice player but not a real presence and he was undersized. I don't really count Adams because he was a 1 and done. If he had stayed another year, I think we'd have seen an exponential improvement in his play and the team's record.
Nix can be a force next year because he has had the redshirt this year to lose weight, improve his conditioning, and to learn the system. If he is an inside presence, next year's team will be much improved, if not it will probably be another middling year.
