Next year's schedule...

Well I could see either Marshall or OSU, not both in the same season with where were at as a program & the rest of our schedule
I think you are overrating the Herd.
I know their record has been gaudy as of late, but keep in mind that their recent resurgence has coincided with cusa becoming the Sun Belt; virtually everyone in that conference with a pulse went to the American. And it's not like they've been beating respectable bcs teams either.
Pitt will have to show up, but they still should handle those guys.

There's no real difference between Akron and Marshall right now. Marshall went 10-3 in the CUSA. Akron went 8-5 in the MAC. Both went to bowls.

If we don't think we can beat Marshall in week 5 of the season at home, then we should shut down the football program.

Not me, we need teams we can beat. Marshall is way too dangerous and the type of team you don't schedule when you have PSU, and OSU & Clemson on the road.
Pederson's Poison Scheduling, guess he could not pick coaches so he picked better Teams?

Maybe you're right. In my head I think of Marshall as a better team.

I am doing the same. All I see is record, haven't watched them. Had some buddies play for doc at WVU in mid 90's, loved him as a DC..

Is there any logic to playing your first three games away?
Who's playing their first three games away?

I listed the schedule in order of difficulty, not in order of when they play.

The first two games are at home...... Villanova and then PSU.

"UPitt '89, post: 687881, member: 942"]...with this year's Sagarin rankings:

#3 Clemson (AWAY) Losing just 4 Senior Starters, QB is back!!! Loss!

#13 North Carolina (AWAY) Fedora has them playing better every year! Toss Up Loss!

#16 Oklahoma State (AWAY) Losing just 3 Senior Starters,, very tough away game? Loss!

#47 Virginia Tech New Coach with Good Talent, Toss Up!

#48 Penn State Most Team is back, but New OC & QB, but great DC, Toss Up!

#50 Miami (AWAY), New Coach with better talent, Loss!

#58 Duke, Toss Up Win!

#59 Georgia Tech, Mostly all back & QB, Toss Up!

#67 Marshall, Good Coach Tough Game, Win!

#75 Virginia (AWAY) New Coach & QB Back, Toss Up!

#80 Syracuse, New Coach, Never Easy Win, Toss UP!

#126 Villanova, WIN!

Pitt might have the hardest road schedule in all of the NCAA next year. Three Top 20 teams, average rankings of #31.
Clemson, OKSU, Miami, UNC Great Coaches & Talent?

Also, UVA, VT, and Cuse New Coaches and many Unknowns?

Penn State and Cuse Rivals never easy!

Duke, GT, and Marshall not easy wins?

We should be favored in every home game.... But if we win two road games, we should consider it an excellent season.
Agree if it happens?

Hopefully OkSt is not as good next year as this year and hopefully it takes a couple years before Bronco Mendenhall gets things going at UVa.
Check the Depth Chart of OKSU, better hope many Juniors leave, because many players back? UVA has Offense coming back with QB too!

That's a helluva tough schedule
If Pitt goes 8-4 I will be happy!
Can't yet confirm on PSU QB but good analysis

Having an experience QB is a great advantage, all I did was look at the various Teams on Pitt Schedule and count the Seniors that have to leave due to Graduation in most cases? And if the QB was a Junior Sophomore or Freshmen! We know if they are Juniors they might leave but can't say they going early so that is an assumption. Most are staying for their senior years looks like to me. Do not know about Hack yet? But the New PSU OC likes a Running Attack with Two Top Backs and a QB that can open up Wideouts and Run himself to counter a weaker OL!

On The Future Schedule Analysis, I can't believe anyone can predict what will happen without checking the Depth Chart on seeing who is returning and who has to leave???

In addition, it makes it even tougher when a New Coach comes in and Miami, UVA, VT, and Cuse have New Coaches with much of Players back?

All I know a quick check on Rivals Depth Charts has Clemson, OKSU and Miami with many Players back with QBS and Clemson and OKSU are Top 15 Teams right now???

Penn State has many players back too and whether Hack leaves or comes back is a question mark? Until we know hard to predict their schedule for next year against the Teams they play?

I did a quick check on that and Iowa, Michigan, MSU, and Ohio State has more leaving than Penn State! New Coaches at Maryland and Rutgers too? New OC at Pitt still unknown and New OC at PSU!

Hard to predict what will happen until we see Depth Charts by next August and see what QBs are back, and how New OC's are doing in the Media with Players reacting to their systems and coaching???

Finally, Pitt due to Fired A.D. Pederson's Poison of changing coaches and Penn State due to changing coaches from the scandal will have more Juniors in 2016 and more experienced Players as Teams, but Pitt Opponents will have many Teams (Especially Teams With More Talent), back with experienced Players & QBs too while breaking in another New OC again?

Penn State 2016 Opponents have less but if PSU is breaking in a New OC and QB that is unknown too, so why I put in Toss Up Wins, Toss Ups, and Toss Up Losses more than just Wins and Losses, on predictions so early?

So, later in last week in August I put up Preseason Predictions before the season and then do Game Day Predictions the day before the Games as changes on injuries and results come in, but Early New Year Predictions have many Toss Ups Wins and Losses due to many unknowns so early!

The SEC East and the Big Ten West are both worse than the ACC

The Big Ten West has 3 10 games winners already (5 ranked) Iowa 12-1, (13) Northwestern 10-2 beat Stanford, and Wisconsin 10-3 will be ranked at (20) after beating USC(25). The other two Big Ten teams Nebraska already beat UCLA (8-5) in their bowl game as well as Minn winning against Central Mich.

The Big Ten conference is the strongest conference this year and is reflected in the ranking.

Your next year schedule appears to be difficult.

It wouldnt be the worst idea in the world to buy out of the Marshall series or pay them to move our home game to another year. The schedule is too tough next year to risk a loss to Marshall, who could easily beat us

What?
So Pitt should pay money that they don't have to replace Marshall with some other mid major because Marshall' s presence would make the schedule "too tough"?
If that were to actually happen I would immediately forfeit my season tickets as that means there is truly no hope for this program.

I'm not saying they should but the schedule is very very difficult and Marshall is a team that can beat us. We only have 1 guaranteed victory (Nova) and 2 guaranteed losses (Clemson/OKST). Getting to 6-6 may not be that easy. This isn't the piece of crap schedules Chyst could only go 6-6 against. Lose to Marshall and you may not go bowling.

Personally, I don't think they should drop Marshall but I could see the logic in paying them off and playing some terrible 1A team in their place.

There's no way Pitt loses to Marshall! Doc's a decent coach but doesn't have the horses to beat Pitt.
