-Mitch Trubisky is slotted as the Top QB in the country from North Carolina, and most sources now have the Browns taking him

-Watson from Clemson, Rudoph from Oklahoma State, Kaaya from Miami, and Kizer from Notre Dame round out the Top 5.

-Kiper has Jerod Evans from Virginia Tech in the Top 5 QB for 2018, and Top 10 for 2017.

-Mike Williams of Clemson, Isaiah Ford from Virginia Tech, James Washington from Oklahoma State, Stacey Coley of Miami, and Ryan Switzer of North Carolina all in the Top 10 of NFL draft WR rankings. Chris Godwin of Penn State is in the Top 15.

-Yea, Pitt's secondary sucked this year. But we faced all the Top QB's and All the Top WR's in the entire country this year too. Amazing the QB and WR talent we faced this year as a team.

-Next years schedule should be far easier.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Was expecting a different angle to this thread (JC) but this puts more perspective on the past year. And I DO know how to google for the RB's.:)

I'm glad to hear that because it seemed to me that our opponents - with the exception of Duke - have been making spectacular throws and catches against us every game. Including many times when we had decent coverage.

Go Pitt.

-Any one of them. The point is you will find all these players in some variation at the top of the player rankings at QB / WR / Slot WR
So, the first link you posted doesn't show 2 of the WRs in the top 10 or Godwin top 15.

Interesting.

-I know some people on this board are slow. Perhaps click slot receiver.
Which wouldn't be the same as your aforementioned "WR". You can easily use the overall rank to tell where they stack up in totality. And if you were quoting "top 10 slot WR" (but definitely just made a typo, not intentionally trying to be vague and not actually reference a source...) it would be the dumbest thing ever because they only rank 11 players and their overall rank would suggest the whole "top 10" not even being drafted.

-No, you are just lazy.

-Now own it
I can look any number of sites and rankings up. You are once again spouting off with no reference and picking and choosing anything you can form an argument around, even if it is non sensical and you have to adapt it as soon as you are called out for inconsistency and moving goalposts.

-I provided 3 links talking about the same QB's I listed above. If you are one of those contrarian type dumbasses that is a wait and see person, so be it.

Dumbest thread ever. Uses 15 different links to prove whatever agenda he has.

-What is dumb about it? The fact Mitch Trubisky is the Top rated college football QB almost across the board? Or the fact all these top teams we played are going to lose their QB in the 1st or 2nd round of the NFL draft? Or the fact 4 of these QB's we faced this year are ranked as the Top 5 draft prospects in the NFL 2017 class?

-Get better reading comprehension.

Wow. I just appreciated looking at this past year from a different perspective. Glad I'm not the bickering type cause it looks fairly stupid on this Internet thing. Safe to say many opposing players will be in the league next year or thereafter.

Oh, you just mentioned QBs?

And no, your 2nd link did not hold up what posted.
-Argueing with a few of you is pointless. I did that over the summer with the Matt Canada haters. I'll just say I told you so after the NFL draft is over.

You didn't "tell" anyone anything. You tried to ambiguously reference "updated rankings" and then couldn't produce a source but general amalgams of rankings and articles. Then you tried to cherry pick and they didn't even support your post. Then you just tried to keep moving the goal posts and your argument, as you always do when you are called out.

Op, great informative post that is very relevant to Pitt next season. Thank you.

Why do some people insist on turning every thread into a pissing match??

Good god it's like a bunch of little children.....i am embarrassed for you.

What's dumb is that people attack because you didn't post a link. Or they get upset because you used multiple sources to put your post together. The simple fact is we played some really top level QB/WR combo's this year and many will be drafted at the upper level of the NFL draft at their positions.

Now that doesn't give our defense a free pass but it does give me hope that next year will be better. A lot of our competition will have significant losses on offense so hopefully we see our defense step up in performance.

-It certainly is going to help when you are not facing an NFL QB every single week of the season. Elite QB's do not grow on trees. Oregon has tanked since Marriota left. North Carolina is going to lose the #1 QB draft pick in the country. They just put a QB in the NFL 2 years in a row. If they put a 3rd QB in the NFL after next year and pull a 3rd rabbit out of the hat, Ill eat my shoe. Pitt did not win this year because of Peterman, a game manager. Other teams ONLY won this year because of their QB, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, etc... These players are gone after this season,, all 1st and 2nd round NFL draft picks. Schedule should be way easier next year.

You said at the beginning of this year Pitt had an easy schedule, and 9 regular season wins was a baseline for a successful season.

-That's because Jerod Evans came from frigging JUCO and played like a 1st Team All American QB. And Mitch Trubisky went from an unknown to the #1 pick in the NFL draft. And Mason Rudolph went from a good QB to a Top 5 NFL QB draft pick.

-I did think the schedule would be light. Because never, not in a million years, would I think all these QB's play like Tom Brady this season.

-And I also said 8+ wins, for the millionth time.

You said 8 was the baseline for acceptable, as in mediocre, and anything under 8 would be a disaster.

-I did say that. 100%. The Goal the entire time was 8 wins minimum and compete to win the Coastal. MINIMUM. And guess what, we are getting 8 after we destroy Syracuse, and have a chance at 9 with the bowl, so we are right on track.

Agreed, we've faced some really tough QBs this year. Trubisky, Kayaa, Watson, Evans, Rudolph are all NFL level QBs. Even a few of the underclassmen QBs, namely McSorley and Jones, are having pretty good years as well. Granted, our pass D has certainly helped them pad their stats and rankings a little too.

And you don't think you could be just as wrong next year, when other teams on the schedule emerge as surprise top 25s?

-I was on target this year. Like I said, If these 5 teams all find another All American 1st or 2nd round NFL draft QB for next season, Ill eat my shoe.

-Virginia Tech's offense has been a colossal disaster for years. They pulled a player out of JUCO to turn it around 180. I have serious doubts all these teams have a bench filled with NFL QB's. But that's me. Virginia Tech hasnt put a QB in the NFL since Mike Vick. North Carolina has put 3 QB's in the NFL the last 40 years. And they are going to put a QB in the league 2 years in a row. Call me highly skeptical of these teams finding All American replacements.
