The biggest driver of attendance at college events is the size of the student body and number of alumni.

Is it reasonable for a university with 20K students/year (e.g. Pitt) to have the same attendance as a school with 100K students per year (e.g. UPS main + branch campuses)?

I realize that students, alumni, and non-alumni are fans, boosters, and attend college sporting events.

However, is the ratio of attendance per game / total students per year a better indicator of fan interest?

Here are examples of calcs for "NGF's Fan Interest Index (NGF-FII)" for football games:
- Pitt = 50K attendance / 20K students = 2.5
- USP = 100K attendance / 100K students = 1

Who actually has a relatively higher amount of fan interest?

FTP,
NGF
