A better D scheme to not let Reynolds catch it going towards his basket gets us to OT
Or ... Jermaine Dixon sticks to the scheme and stays behind Reynolds instead of jumping in front of him to deny the ball letting him run long.

Up 4 with the ball around 3:00 left. If we score there, we probably win the game. Instead, steal and 1. That was the game I thought. Instead of it being a 6-7 point lead, it was 1.

That was the turning point for sure.

That wasn't the scheme. Jermaine Dixon was in the wrong position trying to pick off the pass. He made two huge mistakes that were etched into my mind. The other was walking into a trap up 4. Losing the ball and fouling.

Just said that in another response. Jermaine's two big blunders cost Pitt the Final Four. Walking over half court into that passive trap still haunts me to this day.

Agree; but once again what we don't know is was this a coaching blunder or a player blunder. If its coaching then Coach Dixon and company deserve the blame. If it the player then.........

That was particularly sad. And much of this is because a large portion of Pitt and Western PA sports fans do not pay attention to college basketball until the NCAA tourney starts. They didn't appreciate that back then....say beating Syracuse/Louisville and UConn on 3 consecutive nights was actually a bigger accomplishment than getting into the Sweet 16.

Or that the 16 team BE tournament was a stronger field than any one NCAA region.
