nitters to play pitt again in the future -after this series ends.

God, I hope not. I liked it better when we didn’t talk about each other and had to listen to the old timers tell us how awesome it was. It’s a pretty annoying series.

I guessed this would happen....

Look the Rat is gone.... no reason they 4 games packages won’t eventually morph into what every other in state rivals game already is....

An every year match up

I thought the series was going to be fun, but then I was reminded that Penn State fans are some of the worst to interact with. Count me in with the crowd that wants the Backyard Brawl back. That is a great way to end the season.

Back the future. Most ACC teams are not going to sell out Heinz unless Pitt is top ten. West Virginia, Penn State, and Notre Dame do wonders for ticket sales.

I like Lykes' approach. But new ADs talk a good game - remember Barnes - then back off when they find out the reality.

It’s fun for the 3hr game.
The before and after garbage is extremely exhausting and annoying. I’d rather play osu.

Well, Miami is going to be top 10 again, Clemson is top 10, FSU will no doubt be top 10 again. NcState, VaTech, Louisville, UNC should be top 25 programs. Why not switch to a 9 or 10 conference game schedule and build inter conference rivalries so that the result of the game means more than lip service?

What year did you graduate from Peddstate?

Did she back off ?

it's a 4 game package. we will play all 4 games in the beaver. psu agreed to give put 200 visitor tickets, (standing room only) and 5 parking passes.

Heather Lyke has prepared a contract to send to the Nits. Nits probably preparing the usual excuses for not playing.
I agree wbr, I doubt if the contract is ever signed by UPS. I heard a half time radio interview with Franklin. The announcer was telling Franklin
him what a fine year it turned out to be, after an early season loss (Pitt). Franklin responded with, " That just goes to show you, that if you play good teams in the ooc schedule you can loose, and that won't ever happen again in the future because there are too many good team in the conference.

With that statement, I figured there would never be a renewal of the series.

Yep! PSU needs it's guaranteed 9 wins each season so they can boast about how great their program is while continuing to fail against good competition.

Pitt needs that too, sure beats 8 being the best case for wins.

Fair enough. I would love for the floor to be 9 wins each season, with a couple of games which could push your season win total to double digits. I'm on the fence when it comes to seeing strong/different OOC opponents. It's generally a good litmus test to see where the team stands against other opponents from P5 conferences.

I'd rather go 12-0 and get crushed in the playoff than test myself, finish 9-3 and play in the Care Care Bowl.

Because the ACC voted on it and the members don't want to switch because they like ND coming every 3 years, and some keep their SEC rivals.

Playing Pitt is extremely valuable to Penn State. The series makes a ton of sense for them from a financial standpoint. There are only a handful of teams that makes PSU as much money as Pitt does and none come with an in-state road trip where there are many pro-PSU people.

For PSU, it might make sense to do a 4 game series once a decade, 1 or 2 "easy" regional series (Syr, BC, WVU), and 1 or 2 blue blood series.

It will be interesting to see where they fit it in moving forward. It appears as if Pitt is locked in to series with Tenn, WVu, and Nd while Psu is locked into series with Auburn, VT and Wvu. Obviously those are all perennial top 25 opponents, I wonder if either AD will want to double up with 2 ooc tough games between 2020-2025 to keep the rivalry going.

My guess would be 26,27,28,29. Those four years we currently only have ND scheduled in 28.

dump State Penn, play Hoopies every year!! Throw in Notre Lame as often as possible.

But that’s not the debate really.

It’s would you rather go 8-4 and have 2 of the losses be vs top 10 teams with packed stadiums and lots of revenue coming towards Pitt because of it or go 9-3 or 10-2 and play a bunch of nobies that leave the stadium half filled. Neither record is getting Pitt into a playoff.

We have no proof of what consistent 10 win seasons would do to attendance but I'd say there's a good data set for everything below that.
