No hearing for Niskanen....

Pittsburgh sports marketing studies showed limited interest in an NBA team and a race track for both Indy & NASCAR races.
Football, baseball, and hockey town!
The spelling of NASCAR confuses and scares the locals!
I live 300 miles away in an area of PA where racing is very popular.
I think a nascar track would do well in Pittsburgh. weatherwise, maybe not. you got a demographic east and west and south actually.. 100 miles in any direction not north gets you that "rural" crowd that enjoys racing.

Definitely a " rural" crowd for NASCAR.
Indy car racing is a combo of " city " snobs and rural people.

I travel to aurora and Richmond, two small towns SE of indy and that's about as rural as you get.. Indiana, with a few small exceptions, is "John Cougar" country, literally and proverbially.

I'm lobbying local Pittsburgh government to build a track in Pittsburgh so all you boing overweight Burg fat as-ses that I see in Heinz field and at the Pete can attend the Pittsburgh 500!
Can't wait!

I am a hockey fan. You want to compare hockey crowds with NASCAR as far as "fatasses" and intelligence? Really? You want to go there. About the only thing we have in common is our whiteness.

Just spent last week in Evansville, IN. Trust me, it is more rural, more hillbilly, more "Southern" than the Carolinas.

I was living in Cincy in the early 80s and thought I would go see Cougar's hometown of Seymour, IN. When I got to town there were literally 3 story chicken coups on the downtown ( loosely used) street corners. I drove back with a blank look on my face!

Attend a NASCAR race one day you'd be surprised who's there.

fyi - Who mentioned intelligence you did.

You're making the same mistake that Hillary Clinton made. There's lots of really smart, well educated, hard working people between Manhattan and Hollywood!

I'm there and I have an accounting and finance undergrad, MBA grad, and finance grad degrees.

My wife ( media person ) and I go to the races with all college educated people most with grad degrees!

Follow the sterotype if you like!
People with southern accents aren't stupid just like people outside of Pittsburgh sterotype Pittsburgh people as layed off steel mill worker jerks which isn't true.
Open your eyes if you want to!

I lived in South Carolina for 5 years. Don't go there.

Well I think the people in S Carolina would disagree with you!

Both our kids live in Pittsburgh, graduated from Pitt, have grad degrees , have PENS season tickets, and are also NASCAR fans!
Golly gee wizzz!
We're PENS fans too, have grad degrees, and we're MASCAR fans!
Gee willy's!
Got to go feed the pigs. Taking a break from working on my Board of Directors presentation scheduled for Friday!

Good news...Sidney skated at the optional practice today. It doesn't guarantee his return on Saturday, but it does mean that he doesn't have to go into a dark room with now noise to deal with headaches. Promising sign.

im not gonna jump on the nascar band wagon here but boys, I will tell you, no sporting event in the world has more eye candy than a nascar event. think SEC football game but multiply it by about 20. now watching cars go fast and turn left gets old pretty quick but the pre-race festivities are pretty fun..

hmmm, I definitely sit him out Saturday but if he is better, I think I play him game 6 (if needed).

I think you play him when he is medically cleared. There are no throw away games in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Now, he obviously has to be medically cleared and ready to return or I would not play him in Game 5 or any game for that matter.

Let's just go out Saturday night and defeat the Washington Chocking Dogs This way Ovie can go with the rest of mother Russia and win ANOTHER World Championship in Germany

Yeah, if he is given the go ahead, you play him. There are no throw away games as the poster said, especially against a team like the Caps.

Crosby signed up for this just like the other PENS players so its "all hands on deck" to win this battle and move on and win the war /Stanley Cup.

These things are occupational hazards like most of us have to deal with in different ways!

Not only that wife and I are stuck going out with them tonight now that's really freaking boring!

You have to be on your better than best behavior which for my wife isn't easy.

She's a self employed free spirit free lance media writer and never understood Corporate "rules " or what be on your best behavior actually means.

Actually her best hehavior is still below Corporate standard.

Like honey dont order double fireball shots for the table please LOL!l
We'll find a crazy bar later in the night when we leave them happily sipping their wine.
