to up only 2 at the half?

I am not going to weigh in.

Would appreciate others thoughts.

(Please don't tell me it was because of Stallings failure to call a timeout - That may have contributed to it, but I am interested in the other than that)

I’ll leave the details to others. But simply put there’s enough of a body of work to draw this conclusion. This is just a bad basketball team. I think that’s the answer to a lot of questions.

Poor defense, Poor rebounding, and an inability to shoot the 3 consistently which is their only offense.

That might seem over simplistic at first, but now that I think about it....."this is just a
bad basketball team" makes a lot of sense. Really no need to go into a myriad
of details.

A lack of coaching and the fact that BC started hitting some shots they were missing to start the game. We went from hitting some 3s, putting pressure, and drawing some fouls to missing everything or turning it over every trip down. Pretty simple, really.

When you are not very good and live and die by streaky shooting, that is what is going to happen. We can get a lead like BC or NC State, but if they get out of their funk and we revert to our average (not even slump) we are going to get crushed.

This team plays its worst B.B. game in and out the last 5-6 minutes of both halves. When they feel a bit of pressure to close out a half, to maintain a rare lead or at least remain within shouting distance, they fall completely apart in every aspect of the game. Add to that, they simply do nothing well for any extended period of time.

Didn't catch the game but the bigger question is how the hell this team got up 15??

Mainly because BC missed a bunch of wide open shots, their best player got a T for saying something to the ref (free points, plus it gave him 3 fouls), and Pitt hit a few 3's. After draining a few shots, Pitt went back to normal and BC started to make a few shots. The lead was gone fast.

I'm amazed that BC was able to score 81 points after the way they started the game. But I suppose anything is possible against Pitt.

BC was getting open shots all half they just weren’t hitting them. Like others said, we aren’t very good so when we got out of the zone they beat us in man.

I do think he could have mixed up defenses a little more.

When you can't play defense, can't rebound and turn the ball over, you will lose any lead you had.

You’re welcome.

What the hell is going on here?
I solicited replies in response to my personall request for thoughts on this situation. People that gave me the courtesy of a thoughtful reply were given my thanks.

I did this even though it hurts my efforts to get my like percentage up to 25% (Just kidding;))

One of BC’s best players went out after getting a technical foul for his 3rd personal Pitt went on a little run while BC shot poorly for most of the first half. Pitt then did what it does go on about a 5 minute scoring drought while BC started to hit some shots and got some easy buckets off terrible turnovers. It’s been an issue every game threes don’t go down we are one and done don’t score for 5-7 minute stretches then can’t rebound giving the other team 3 and four shots each possession and there you go a 15 point lead erodes to 2 at half and then come out worse in the second half and a close game turns into a laugher.

I agree that is the usual recipe. We are never going to win giving the other team tons more possessions on both turnovers and rebounds even on an exception shooting night.

In this game, I thought Stallings substitutions really hurt. It seemed to me that Stallings decided with BC's star out he could sub(Baker came in and hurt us a lot). He might have thought his 15 point lead might get reduced to 9 or 10 and then he could build it back to 12 to 15 before the half.

I was interested in seeing if anyone else thought the substitutions were part of the reason, No one brought it up, so I guess it was just me.
