Now get a point guard

That's the problem... you kind of need points any way you can find them at this point, so I'm not sure how selective we can afford to be. A non-selfish conservative facilitator works when you have pieces in place around him, but we don't.

We need a lot more than a PG, that's for sure. The 2 players Capel got in the portal so far don't exactly cause excitement for most Pitt fans. Maybe Capel has a plan to abscond a high quality player or 2 from Houston or Florida after they're done playing. Like a starter. :p

There are point guards who can play….their scouting has been piss poor the last decade…….that has been a huge issue

I'd argue that the scouting has been one of the few bright spots of this staff. They do a pretty good job of identifying talent. They've struggled to develop talent more than anything.
Other than Carrington who was here 5 minutes, they really haven’t been able to get a program changing point guard like a Brandon Knight type. That’s why I’m down on their scouting because I think that there are kids that you can get that would love to stay all four years. Ben Howland and EARLY Jamie Dixon were good at that

With NIL and players changing teams more often than they change their underwear, the days of finding players that we can count on for more than 1 year are gone. And in Pitt's case with the lack of developmental coaching and game preparation, the good ones we do get are definitely gone in a year. The marginal ones are gone in 2 years. We have to keep getting to know all new players every year. There is no loyalty to the program any longer.

And two or three more competitive players. I’m getting bad vibes about our free agency efforts this year. So far, no Blakes or Bubs, but the free agency market is still open.
