West Virginia vs Penn State
May 10 at PNC Park

This is the final straw.

The Pirates have 81 home games, yet they cant TBA 2-3 September home games and let Pitt have first choice.

Narduzzi wanted to have the Spring Game on April 22 and the Pirates wouldn't accomodate.

The McClatchy group at least had a few Pitt/Duq games at PNC. Having WVU play PSU there is just too much. I am sorry but if you are a Pitt fan, I cant see how you can root for the WV Pirates.

Oh the horror! . Mass hysteria, dogs and cats living together, 500 folks at a college baseball game, worst thing since ChikFilA coming to Duquesne...

Much ado about nothing, as usual.

Who are these Pirates you speak of. Might be first and only time both teams practice at least fair baseball fundamentals.

I'd want to know if Pitt was offered a chance to play at PNC. With our new-ish facility, I could understand Pitt opting to stay on campus. WVU-Pedds is tempting -- if only to root, root, root against both teams.

It makes sense, There are tons of fans of those two schools in Pittsburgh, I'd boycott them because they don't spend money on good players/payroll. But how they treat Pitt doesn't play into it for me, besides, I never watch baseball, unless it's a Pirates playoff game, or if I go to Camden Yards ONLY to drink beer.

Who cares? The game will draw 250 people at most.

Its disrespectful to the hometown team.

Not entirely related to the OP but I realized a few years ago that this team peaked with the NLDS team of 2013. I'm convinced that their plan since then has been to bottle up their newfound fan support and make halfhearted attempts to compete....just enough to keep them relevant but not really going after championships. I think the facade will start to crumble a little as guys leave and prospects don't pan out. We'll see how the next several years shake out but it will be criminal if they revert back to prior form without having made a serious run.

Nutting took over in 07. Pitt played there in both 08 and 09

Pitt fans complain about playing off campus and then complain when they dont get to play off campus.

Theyve played both teams on campus in the past few weeks and neither was close to a sellout

Maybe all those boycotting the Bucs can find some time to see a Pitt game at their on campus stadium. Crowds have been pretty sparse and they could use the fans

Nutting runs a tease. Keeps the team marginally competitive and hopes to catch lightning in a jar. I think the organization overvalues the "ballpark experience". The North Side Park is not Fenway or Wrigley, nor located in a market the size of Boston or Chicago where ticket demand typically exceeds the supply. Fans are catching on. A bucco game is a great way to spend 3 hours or so, but don't expect too much from the product on the field.

The 2015 team was the very best of this decade. 13 was good but 15 better. They could have won it.

Since 15, though, they have fallen off hard. The lack of signing Quintana, along with umpteenth similar non-moves over the years, show where there true heart is.

Maybe the UPS game didn't sell out, but according to this game wrap-up, the crowd was a season high in attendance (near the end of the story), not bad for a mid-week game. http://www.pittsburghpanthers.com/sports/m-basebl/recaps/040417aaa.html

I just wonder are we also all boycotting the Pens since they have had the Penn State hockey team play at Consol/PPG? It's bad enough that they let those pipsqueaks from Robert Morris play there, but if allowing the nitters to play at PNC is a crime then why isn't allowing the nitters to play at PPG a similar crime?

Oh, yeah, that's right, we like Mario. And we hate that carpetbagger from West Virginia. I mean damn, it probably takes that guy a whole hour to get from his home to the park!

A whole hour! I sure hope he has a chauffeur, no way he's paying for gas and tolls that whole drive!

its a tournament that RMU co-hosts with PPG.....and Pitt does not have a D1 hockey team. Much different.

I wouldn't be shocked if WVU plays a November football game at PNC eventually.

You'd have to kidnap him in that case and hope no one notices.

It might have worked too, since the Pirates don't play the White Sox this year!

White Sox manager at spring training: "Hey, where's Jose Quintana?"

White Sox general manager: "I don't know. He just didn't show up. I guess he just doesn't want to play baseball anymore."

I'm boycotting the Pirates because they refuse to spend $ and make moves to compete for a championship. Inexcusable considering the talent they have to work with. Ownership has no real interest in winning, they are just worried about their bottom line.

The Pirates are literally the only team that's never made a major free agent signing or trade for high paid player.

Other small market teams have made big moves. Indians have made several big pickups in the last 20 years, Brewers traded for CC when they had a shot, KC has made some big acquisitions, Etc. what's our biggest acquisition? Derek Bell, Raul Mondesi, Matt Morris?

Maybe Burnette? But even he was a risk and somewhat of a bargain. They got some good things from him.The other three were washed up when they got them. But no,I cant remember any in a very long time.
