"#99HUGHgreen, post: 371435, member: 4804"]I did... I have been a HUGE FAN of Narduzzi from day 1. It wasn't just some gut feeling. It was seeing that he was the first coach in a long time for Pitt that gives a s$&t about the little details and it was seeing him talk about the specific little mistakes being made and how they needed to be fixed. Don't let anyone tell you excellence isn't in the details.
I remember you saying those things and you were and are correct sir! So did NC Panther and UPitt89 and all changed my mind when I was advocating Rudolph and educated me on why Narduzzi was the Best fit for Pitt and won't forget it!
Narduzzi is a perfectionist. He has raised the expectations for his players. He demands excellence. And he shows exactly how with little technique changes and a belief that you can be great if you just give everything you have, you can be a much better football team.
Again you are spot on, look what Coach Pat had to say after every game, that all Players can and will get better! Does it with confidence, conviction, and commitment to excellence!
Chryst was hardly a perfectionist. He was the king of vagueness. "We need to clean up some things"
"Duh," "You Know," "I Am The Special Team Coach!", "It Is On Me!" In effect, I don't need any Stinking Special Teams Coach! "I love Wisconsin", and goodbye Pitt with not much of a grateful comment how Pitt gave him a chance to become a Head Coach when many interviewed him and rejected him. Another Pederson's Poison Pill for Pitt Football, had Graham not left the way he did, Chryst would not have been here. Alvarez had the same problems with Bielema and Andersen and he can now have Chryst of his own making!?
Chryst often let down his Players with his bad calls and poor Special Teams after Offense and Defense Players played their Hearts out! Duke, UNC, Miami, Houston, count 2 to 3 Losses every year due to poor Special Teams! Chryst was learning and is still learning but now on Wisky's dime?
Wannstedt was not anywhere near a perfectionist. He was just clueless. "We just need to find a way to play better"
Coach Dave knew much about the Game of Football but had real trouble adjusting to Head Coaching and only coaching NCAA regulated 17 Hours a week to prepare his Players for the Games. Dave's Game Plans were not terrific and his Half-Time Adjustments were mostly inconsistent or non-existent? He did rebuild Recruiting with High School Coaches and Parents that Chryst often ignored knowing he was not staying at Pitt! This did great damage at places like Aliquippa, Eastern Side of the State, New Jersey and Virginia.
Every Pitt fan has to feel pretty darn good today. Pitt might prove to have the best defense in the ACC. That means we have a real chance to win the Coastal this year.
Right again, when you check out how in less than 8 months the Pitt Players Attitude and Affection for this Head Coach and how Coach Pat Staff have been selected and are coaching for and with him, it is remarkable. Jim Tressel said, Pitt finally found their Coach!
Yet, I will say. I was not sold on Chaney from day 1 and he has not done much to change my thinking. Too many times his play calling has stalled the momentum of the offense.
Agree, 2 years at UTenn then gone, 2 Years at Arkansas and gone? He has had to deal with injuries, but he did inherit a pretty good Offensive Unit minus some experience Wideouts, but he has 2 Terrific Tight Ends, 2 Good Experience QBs with different talents and skills, and the Defense is giving them great positions on the Field!
The defense was too good and gave the ball back to the offense with great field position way too many times today for Pitt to only have 17 points. If he and the rest of the offense staff can get a little better... Look out.
Ditto & Great Post!
