Again. You keep saying WIN BIG. I don't care about winning big. Just want to see the ncaa tourney 3 of every 4 years. That is where this program is now. Expectations have been lowered due to the last 8 years. But if you don't think Miller can at least bring this program back to getting into the NCAAs then we agree to disagree.

I keep saying WIN BIG because at Arizona a good coach not only can, he does WIN BIG. It is so much easier to win at Arizona than it is at Pitt. The two jobs really aren't all that comparable. And yet even in that environment, when he was cheating his ass off, he didn't even come close to getting Arizona to where a good coach should be able to get Arizona to.

So when he comes to Pitt, and he is no longer at one of the premium programs in the country, and when NIL money is going to make any potential cheating that he could do be so much less effective, why, exactly, would you expect him to succeed at Pitt? Why would you expect someone who underachieved at one of the best programs in the country to come to Pitt and suddenly have him start living up to or exceeding expectations?

With Miller, we are assured of NCAA Tournaments. He will get players. But you would rather try to get lucky on a lottery ticket who has just about the same chance as being as bad as Stallings and Capel as being as good as Miller? This program cannot take any more chances. Miller is a proven winner who cant make Final Fours. I'll take that.

Fair enough. As @Joe the Panther Fan has notes, you’re making a lot of assumptions about his ability to get NIL money that I don’t think is true. He can get money at Arizona. Not Pitt. Also, as derisively as you talk about “Dixon II” I figure you’d want a better coach than Miller who will just replicate that.

I would love to get a coach better than Miller. I just don’t think taking a chance on the next mid-major guy guarantees that. This program needs a guarantee we won't hire the next Stallings/Capel. I said in another post, I'd consider hiring Dixon mainly because the ACC is so bad, if he can just go back to defending and rebounding and not caring at all about offense, we'd probably win enough in this league

Yeah, your last sentence is spot on when you consider SMF just said in his prior post, ‘Miller is a proven winner that can’t make final fours’. I immediately thought, you’re describing Jamie.

OK. And who on this board wouldn't take Jamie getting into the tourney most years and no final 4s to the S*** show we are now?! Hopefully many who bashed Jamie for not making the final 4 have now realized how extremely hard it is to do that and that we were lucky with what we had. I am not advocating re-hiring Jamie at all. Those situations rarely work out. But am advocating that we need an established, weather he has a checkered past or not. Also the idea of Miller being a failure at AZ cause he didn't win a natty with all that talent. Do those same people believe Cal is a failure cause he only won 1 with all the talent he has had?

I don't buy the notion that a guy can't make Final Fours. It doesn't happen until it does happen. Andy Reid couldn't win Super Bowls until he won one. It's just so overly reductive.

I doubt it was a habit he just picked up when he went to AZ. And Book was with him there too so I think I know which side would be the prohibitive favorite.

No doubt. I only recall hearing about the official 'charges' while at AZ. I'm sure there are prior implications for XU too.
