Army did not opt out of a bowl game; they simply didn’t get invited after their automatic bowl bid, the Independence Bowl, got canceled.

Meanwhile...

What a robbery.

The sad thing is we always hear about academic integrity. That university’s have a higher calling and moral direction. Why wouldn’t one of the schools Presidents say Army take our spot. I know there are contracts in place but in this season there wouldn’t be anyway anybody would sue. No for SEC schools absent Vanderbilt it is all about money. I hope Ga Tech gets an invite just so I can watch that jacka$$ coach lose it.

“Instead of giving Army our bowl bid, we will honor them by selling new $250 military alternate jerseys in our team store.”

Yea, South Carolina wears that Veterans Day jersey with words on the back (instead of last names) such as honor, integrity, accountability, etc. Yet they take Army's bowl game. Well, I know not really their bowl game but that's despicable.

Growing up I used to really look forward to every single bowl game, it was one of my favorite parts of the holiday season even, just hanging around with some leftovers or a pizza and gorging myself on a lot of football from teams that I may have seen play once all year in exotic locations. Then over the years I started watching fewer games as the bowl glut became bigger and I didn't really care to keep up as they moved farther away from New Year's. Then one year I realized that I was only watching maybe at most the Holiday Bowl, the Rose Bowl, Pitt and USC's bowls, and whatever passed for the national championship playoff.

The past few years I'm down even from that to only Pitt and USC's games and maybe the national title game if I can be bothered to remember what day that Clemson and Alabama are playing that year.

And this year I honestly won't watch any at all.
