Happy start of the NBA season everyone! Great games on tonight. The TNT crew just signed new contracts. It’s gonna be a good year.

Predictions

Champs: Bucks over Nuggets (I want to pick the Clippers but I can’t bet on their health - Kawahi hasn't played a full game in ages and PG has had a ton of surgeries. But they're a sexy pick.)

MVP: Embiid finally gets his due and continues the streak of big men winning MVP.

Is the NBA starting that intraseasonal tourney this year or did they scrap that? I love the forward thinking of the league.

I am unwilling to lay down money on any team. Bucks do seem a very likely candidate but so many other great teams in the East. The C’s just seem to me to have the kind of energy that could do it.

The West is an absolute crap shoot in my opinion. Hard to go against the W’s b…..so many great young teams. The Grizz could do amazing things.

The only thing I want is the StayPuff Marshmallow man to lose in Dallas. I truly cannot stand him.

I kinda like Luka.

Im happy with anyone winning except Boston, Brooklyn, Golden State, or the Clippers.

At least on the football board it is only the hometown team, the Steelers, that people go OT on. Last I checked there wasn't an NBA team in Pittsburgh.

Okay? And there’s been OT NBA threads on this board for 10+ years. Nobody is forcing you to open it and share your opinion that it’s boring. Ignore the thread and move on.

Is it too late to switch my MVP pick to Giannis? Bucks looking like juggernauts despite not having half their top guys.

Also - Time for the Nets to burn it down? Kyrie out here wildin' out.

Amazing how badly the Sixers screwed up “The Process.” Okafor, Fultz, and Simmons. Three first round picks who basically stink.

Yeah. And they'd have nothing had they not lucked out on Embiid. Even he didn't look so good a few years in given the injury issues.

I think the process was a disaster as far as the picks go. But they were still an elite team a few years ago, even with Simmons' shooting issues. Their biggest mistake was not keeping Butler. And while Harden isn't his prime self, he's still miles better than Simmons.

Im a big 76ers fan and the entire Ben Simmons Saga really turned me off. How a guy who plays for a contender, on a max contract can just sit out, get paid and hold a franchise hostage turned me off last year. However, watching Tyreese Maxey play basketball brought me back. Sadly, Glenn Rivers is his coach and will continue to mess this up.

Agreed. If they had James Harden from 7 years ago, it's a championship contender. As is, we'll see.

Also agree with regards to Simmons. The fact that he was using mental health as an excuse was pretty ridiculous.

Man the Nets are a dumpster fire. Nash has gotta be thrilled to be off the hook there.
He is probably thinking... You are going to pay me not to deal with Kyrie, Ben and KD...

Fultz and Simmons both played on losing teams in college. I thought that should've been a sign. Rarely do elite players play on losing teams in college.

Agreed. Fultz always seemed like a decent player in a bad draft. Simmons had loads of talent but was obviously missing the shooting ability. Not sure why they thought they could fix that.

Good game between the Cavs and Celtics yesterday. Cavs looking good coming out on top of the Celt’s twice now in the last week.

Trading up to get Fultz though felt like a stretch, even that night when I was optimistic about him as a player. I thought he looked good but not "trade up with 2 lottery picks" good! They could have ended up with like Tatum and Fox without having any special insights into how good Donovan Mitchell might turn out to be. It's really a remarkable string of bad draft picks except for Embiid. And I wonder if they would have take Jarabi Parker if they didn't end up with the #3 in the Embiid drafT! Which shows how powerful tanking is that they're still a playoff team despite missing on almost every pick going back to 2015

Bumping this, Despite his claims, @Sean Miller Fan isn't the only one who "Knows Basketball."

Pretty confident I nailed my Embiid MVP pick. Feeling GREAT about the Bucks. The Durant trade makes my Nuggest pick a little shakier, but feel good that they finished #1 in the west.

Stoked for the playoffs.

Whew. The Heat stink. Get those bums out of the playoffs.

And believe it or not, the biggest reason I think the Lakers have a shot to beat Memphis is because of the absence of Pitt's own Steven Adams. I'm sure @thirteenNINE could find the numbers, but I'm pretty sure I was listening to a Lowe Post podcast where Zach said Adams was having one of, if not the greatest offensive rebounding season in NBA history. Going to be hard for them to contain LeBron and AD with him out.

Well it’s always possible for AD to get a hangnail or some other malady and be out for 5 months.

Reggie Miller was doing color on a Laker game earlier this year. AD fell and he had a grimace expression on his face. Reggie said, "That grimace on AD's face is worth two weeks in street clothes." Hilarious. Reggie is so good.
