Imagine you are a Browns fan. All you had to do is resign Baker Mayfield. You likely save $20-25 million of cap space.

You also have:
2022 1st and 3rd rd pick
2023 1st and 4th rd pick
2024 1st and 4th rd pick.

They don't have that bad of a roster. They could have had those guys.........and a decent QB. But this shows what poor ownership does. It kills franchises and hamstrings them.

Does the GM and/or front office not have any responsibility in the Watson acquisition? Or was all on the owner? Also, did the owner, or GM, or others in the front office, dictate when Stefanski could bench Watson this season?

Note that the Browns' owner was a former 10% interest owner in the Steelers.

An all-time epic of a bad move. Can't think of one that was worse. Baker played hurt in his final Cleveland season, which downgraded his play, and they traded him. Probably didn't help that the team cancer Odell Beckham complained about Baker before he was traded to LA. Diva receivers are cancers and should be cut away from teams asap. Pickens is a decently sized tumor.

Browns would have been a SB contender if they would have kept Baker and used those picks at least somewhat effectively.

The Texans traded some of those draft picks in other deals, but essentially this is what they ended up with from those picks (and the trades they made with them):

Based on CBS Sports, all of the received draft picks and subsequent trades resulted in the Texans acquiring: "the 2023 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Will Anderson Jr., starting wide receiver Tank Dell, starting left guard Kenyon Green, starting free safety Calen Bullock, starting cornerback Kamari Lassiter, wide receiver John Metchie III, linebacker Christian Harris, running back Dameon Pierce, linebacker Jamal Hill, and tight end Cade Stover. They also acquired an extra 2025 second-round pick via the Vikings, because of the compensation they received from the Browns."

Baker was traded to Carolina, not LA. After he played like shit in Carolina he was waived and LA grabbed him off the wire,

Speaking of bad organizations creating bad QBs, Baker was competing against Darnold at Carolina. The current #3 and #5 passers in the league right now.

I meant Beckham was traded to LA. I think.

It's why especially now with NIL, if I am a QB and coming out and feel that I could be drafted by the Jets, Browns, Giants, Raiders, Jags, etc.....I am opting back in college.

And the Browns have a top pick again and could draft a legit franchise QB, while the Steelers go thrift shopping.

They’ve been trying to draft a franchise QB ever since Bernie Kosar— and the one franchise QB they had (Mayfield) was run out of town for basically no reason. The greatest likelihood is that Cleveland will make the wrong decision.

didnt our own beloved Mike Ditka trade every draft pick for ricky williams lol. i know we dont like to make fun of iron mike but in hindsight, that is pretty bad..
And the Redskins did nothing with those extra picks. Similar to the Rams acquiring the picks for Eric Dickerson and were terrible by 1990 when those picks should've been the young nucleus.
