I don’t believe she is a native Pittsburgher, but she is identified as being “from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania” in every introduction.
Just defeated James Holtzhauer, among others to win the first Jeopardy Masters Tournament and $500,000.
Sort of an amazing story. Appeared on Jeopardy in 2005 and was only a one-time champion. Later became a regular on the American version of “The Chase” another program featuring some former Jeopardy winners, including Ken Jennings, Holtzhauer and Brad Rutter, the most undeserving big time Jeopardy winner ever. That apparently led to her being invited into the Jeopardy Invitational Tournament, which she won, thereby gaining her a place in the 9-person Jeopardy Masters Tournament.
She led in the Preliminary round with both the most points and the highest percentage of correct responses (93%). Finished first in the Semifinals and then won the two-game final by being so far ahead she had clinched the victory and bet $0 on the Final Jeopardy question (although she answered it correctly).
