My wife’s family is looking to book a cruise in 2025. The latter part of 2024 has been rough for me personally, so I relish the chance to plan something fun. The problem is I’ve heard there’s nuance to cruise planning and have only been on one over 20 years ago. Thought I would go to the lair for help. I’ve never been steered wrong before. So far:

- Either Icon on Royal Caribbean or Carnival. I would personally much rather do RC since that ship looks amazing and I’ve heard sketchy thinks about Carnival

- Apparently her family is absolutely insisting we buy the drink package. I’m budgeting an extra grand for this for both me and my wife (one week cruise). Seem about right? Is it worth it?

- Was just asked 6:00 or anytime dinner?? No clue what this means. Thought we could just eat whenever/wherever

- Looks like St Thomas and St Maarten plus the RC island if we go w them

- Activities.. is there much on the ship that’s planned or is it pretty much drink and find your own fun?

Curious to get everyone’s thoughts about cruising. I’m leery because it seems very love/hate from people I talk to
