We got the Oculus VR glasses for Christmas and because the Steeler game was such a buzz kill I decided to watch the 76ers/Wizards NBA game in VR last evening. Holy crap what am experience. I was sitting courtside with the ability look around the entire arena as if I was there. Probably one of the coolest viewing experiences I have had. Unfortunately, there aren’t many live events in VR other than the weekly NBA game, but if this is the future sign me up.

No but sounds awesome. Unfortunately, these technological advances take SOOO long to become mainstream. Remember it took like 10 years for all sports broadcasts to be HD? Even now, there are like no sports broadcasts available in 4K.

I have. It's incredible.

I'm trying to figure out this metaverse. It's decentralized vs sandbox. People are currently buying up real estate in what will become a virtual city to include markets and other things. This is where all of this crypto will be used. There is a gentlemen trying to create a virtual strip club with the girls having only fans accounts. I was told to scour the suburbs and buy up as much property as I can

I'm sure as soon as ESPN can figure out a way to profit bigly from it, they will have it for a bunch of games.

I'm looking into trying it out as a substitute for traveling. With Covid lockdowns and a toddler, traveling isn't an option right now so I would like to get a couple of those headsets and my wife and I can go 'visit' various places .

Along these lines, I watched a 30 minute tour of Paris that was pretty incredible.

Maybe we can build a virtual on-campus stadium in the metaverse. But even then, e-property in Oakland is probably too expensive.

A guy is creating a car dealership so you can test drive vehicles. Another investor is creating a golf course. It will have movie theaters and sporting events. Major companies are buying up space to put their stores. I would figure this out quickly, download something simple like coinbase, create a wallet and drop a few bucks on some space. My 9 yr old son figured it out in 1 day. All the kids are being exposed and in ten years this marketplace/virtual city will be where people interact and shop. It is the future. They already have zoning boards.

I spoke with somebody from CMU and businesses will soon buy up real estate to create workspaces for people to come to work with virtual reality. A simple few grand investment would make you rich in ten years.

There is a formula one race with 360 camera view from the car. That would be worth seeing in VR. I think GoPro put out the video on YouTube. But anything race related would be pretty awesome. NASCAR, formula 1, Tour de France etc

Sounds like the biggest bubble in history. But... Money is to be made until people realize that none of it is real and land is unlimited.

I'm having a hard time understanding why he is saying everyone needs to buy up physical land for some reality where land isn't needed and everything is virtual. Should I be buying up Greene County land for this shift to virtual everything? Makes no sense

They're buying virtual land.

Brick and mortar stores are a relic of the past. Imagine virtual stores where you can handle the item and talk with a sales person. Store will pay to get premium spots for visibility. You can lease these spots to stores. Kids are growing up in a virtual world. My 9yr old son taught me how to navigate his oculus quest. It’s simple to him. There is a trillion dollars in crypto money in play right now. People le said these same things about Bitcoin. You could get 100 dollars in Bitcoin for nothing when it came out. Like ok what you would have now. We have fear looking forward. It takes vision to see where things are headed. They are not going back. Facebook changed its name to Meta. Why did that happen? Much of this is in beta right now but from what I was told there will be some incredible changes to the virtual experience over the next 10 years. These cities will hold businesses where people show up to work. Items will be bought and sold.

I feel bad for people in the future, it almost sounds like they'll never really go anywhere. Since the pandemic started my brick and mortar office is history, as much as teleworking from home is "easier" I'm glad I'm retiring soon, I really am glad that I went to an office every day for 36 years, actually KNEW my coworkers and actually had a real Christmas party where everyone got drunk and even laid, LOL the future will be boring as hell, and these kids don't even know it.

I’m thinking of buying a skyscraper on the edge of town. I’m expecting urban sprawl
I’ll then create my own strip club with only fans accounts. I will put a sports memorabilia store in it that has lots of PITT gear. A movie theater. A crypto exchange service. I’ll rent out condos upstairs and give discounts to anybody in this site

I walk my dog at night (actually every night). We have the entire neighborhood to ourselves while the blue glow of television and computer screens leak out of every home into the night. Little chubby kids that never exercise play on their digital porn boxes.

You can have it.

Went for a run in my neighborhood today. Aside from the garbage man and a pool cleaner, had the entire neighborhood to myself.

Taking the family to DeathValley tomorrow.

A lot of people need to get out of their effing houses and live.

The chubby kid thing is a thing of the 2000s. It used to be every kid you saw was fat. Not anymore. There's like no fat kids anymore. Its probably the explosion of youth sports where all these kids are playing organized sports 200 days/year. The downside is they are never home to play with their neighborhood friends

I’m sure the VR will be a Pay Per View thing in the future. If it’s that cool they ain’t giving it away for free. As my bro always says “There is no free lunch!”

Exactly and I want that coming my way. At one time there was an 8 track player. I’m sure it was the coolest thing to have as a kid. CDs are now a thing of the past. We get angry at our past and always fear the future. The goal is to embrace the future and try to get ahead of it so I can profit from it.

Seems like your signature makes this a political post. Should be removed.

Oh for sure! Just noting a previous post indicating it was gonna be like HD as other channels adopt the tech. Maybe so but HD vs VR of being at the game in my opinion are two vastly different experiences.

By the way, my CDs are all in a box in my garage taking up real estate next to that box of DVDs. 🙄

I'm going to get a VR headset and go on vacation to France. First I will boot up Microsoft Flight Simulator in VR mode. Then pretend to drive to the airport, sit on the couch and pretend that my flight was delayed. Buy a Sprite for $4 in the airport minimart (virtually) and then take the flight to NYC on Flight Sim. Then wait another hour at Newark, but I'm flying on Delta so it's a nice waiting area, so I'll chill on my couch with a cold chicken wrap. Then fire up Flight Sim VR again, take the 6 hour flight to Paris with the headset on. I'm going to sit in an old, uncomfortable chair with my knees pressed up against the wall, to simulate no leg room. I'll watch some recently released movies on the VR headset, making it seem like I'm looking at a small airplane screen attached to the back of the seat in front of me. Should be a nice trip!

I am going to go the VR stadium in Oakland but will sit in my car for 2 weeks to simulate the world's worst traffic. Remember, there is no traffic like 40K people leaving a football game on a Saturday at 3:30.

Yeah, how did anyone ever get home from the final game at Pitt Stadium?

This all is starting to feel like the Bruce Willis movie Surrogates. Or even the Schwartzenagger movie Total Recall.

Hey, to each their own, but we have a finite time of life. There is preciousness in the physical realities of the moment with feeling happy, joy, love, sadness, and pain. Sure, you can feel some emotions thru a VR but they can never replace reality and human contact. Being honest it’s why I never play video games. Would rather take a beach walk.

When to understand how this works then you can take many nice beach walks as you will have the cash to take many vacations
