Watch the Dutch movie “Black Book” on Amazon Prime.
Carice Van Houten (Melisandre) stars as Ellis/Rachel, a Jewish woman being who gets involved with the Dutch Resistance and ends up working in a Gestapo headquarters as a spy.
Michael Huisman (Darrio Naharis) has a supporting role as Rob, one of the Resistance fighters.
The movie itself, directed by Paul Verhoeven (Soldier of Orange, Basic Instinct, RoboCop, Total Recall, Turkish Delight) is very good with lots of twists and turns. It was voted the Best Dutch film of all time in a Dutch public poll while Turkish Delight won that honor in a Dutch critics’ poll. I like Soldier of Orange more than either of them.
Verhoeven also directed Showgirls, the atrocity starring Elizabeth Barkley, and had the guts to pick up the awards in person when he “won” the Golden Raspberrys for Worst Picture and Worst Director for it. He was the first person ever to do so and might be the last.
