OT: Jacob Stallings

Jacob is actually a very, very nice and likeable guy.

He wasn't considered to be a legitimate prospect when he was drafted, he had organizational player written all over him. The fact that he made it to the majors at age 26 and has been able to stick around for parts of 3 seasons is a testament to his work ethic and character. If his dad displayed either of those qualities, he might have been able to stay awake during scouting trips and win a couple more conference games. No reason to hate on the son for the father's failings.

We were talking about this earlier in the season, he now has enough service time to qualify for the MLB pension plan. I would guess that the odds of that happening when he got drafted were really, really low.

His teammates seem to love him, and there are a lot worse things you can say about a guy.

I respect him quite a bit. he has had to be in a city where his dad was hated.
