OT:James Conner

Agreed. Switzer just needs to a little room and I feel very confident Switzer will deliver this year. He will likely have some good returns and Ben can count on him not dripping the ball (unlike another certain receiver).

He has food hands and was an elite WR and kick returner in college (something every Pitt fan should remember vividly).

I seem to be more elusive than Ryan Switzer.

Oh man, Mark Madden just eviscerated him for this. But you know, as I was watching him last night, I thought the same thing. Conner looked like he was running in the preseason. First contact down. He wasn't quick. Didn't break one tackle. Conner wasn't powerful or explosive last night. Could be chalk it up to a team effort mailing it in. But Conner, like almost every other Steeler, looked and played scared.
Madden has had a hardon for Conner for2 years-despite him making a pro bowl last year

If the Steelers idea of replacing Antonio Brown is Donte Moncrief, it's going to be a very long year.

Hopefully James doesn't get scapegoated. The line wasn't very good. But everyone fair or not expects JC should be automatic on 3rd and 4th and short. Bottom line he (and the line) couldn't convert on a couple. Latern it led to Tomlin getting stupidly, cowardly kicking a FG on the 1. Not likely the Steelers were coming back from 20-7 but CERTAINLY weren't coming back from 20-3. The D surrendered and gave up the easy bomb after that.

And the real culprit of that series, worse than the FG itself, was the awful 3rd down fade. Throwing the ball is fine if you don't think Conner can punch it in. But not that play. Where's McDonald down there (or anywhere all night)?

Everyone had poor nights (incl Conner). All should be ripped. It might be good for them in the long run, finally awaken them to their window of opp sailing away. But the media here can't rip Ben too hard, Moncrief is really a nobody, a pound of flesh is needed, and likely they have had its fill of being overly patient with the Pitt Guy Who Beat Cancer. They played along politely about him for 2 years and resisted the usual backhand compliments Pitt guys in the NFL get. I'm sure Micco, Cook, Junker, Savran, Benz et al hope it's ok soon to sink the claws into him.

3rd and 1 - Put a full back in the game and run power. Shotgun on 3rd and 1 with nobody in the backfield is ridiculous.

He wasn’t staying man. He wanted out and wasn’t playing another down as a Steeler. Same as raiders, he wanted out.
I agree, he wanted out. But I would of at least tried to take to him, He's an A-hole and I hate him, but I'd rather have an A-hole that I hate who can dominate and USE him for my purposes, than a "good character guy" WHO SUCKS. sort of like Belechick. That's why Belechick is great, he doesn't give a crap about people, he just USES the talented ones for his own selfish purposes and then discards them with no emotion when they are spent. He doesn't treat them like friends, just as pawns! GREAT COACH!

That said, to me, if AB was leaving, it was super important to get a true worthy WR in his place, I care more about offense than defense. I would of either gone WR in round 1 or maybe try to beat out the Browns for OBJ and manipulate the salary cap somehow to make it work. even if it screws up future years after Ben is gone. Is OBJ a head case too? Who cares? I always put TALENT>character and roll the dice.

Lol. mark Madden must have read this thread. He’s now ripping Tomlin and Coach Randy for playing Switzer as much as they did and more than Conner. He said he will donate a dollar to charity for every play Switzer does not play.

he makes it look easy, that's for sure. great ones do make it look easy though.
It's not a hard pass but choosing the right one and hitting them in stride so they can get yac, isn't as easy. He's also good at hitting the deep seems when teams cheat up with their safety's. As for the wr well they are getting open at least partially because every other pass is a pick play.

Has he ever had a good punt or kick return in the nfl? He catches it so that’s good but in the nfl, u need to raise bar a bit.
I am fine with him as a punt returner. A great one breaks maybe 2 a year, in my opinion it's most important to catch the ball and do a good job not letting it bounce and roll. But he should only be on the field on offense in certain situations
