Good luck to all who are running in the Pittsburgh full and half Marathon as well as the relay. The largest sports event of the year in Pittsburgh will happen this Sunday when counting the number of runners and spectators. Stay safe.

Great day to run. I didn’t participate this year but still got out to cheer and support. How’d. You do today?

It was a great day for a run, except for a few raindrops after 11:30.

Thanks for coming out and supporting the runners. I do it for the challenge each year and to see where I can go with this. This year, I bettered my time from last year by 22 minutes, so I was happy. I'm an old guy....71...so if I can run at all, I'm happy.

That’s a great improvement. Like cutting 50 seconds per mile so great job.

But hey, you didn’t finish 1st overall so all of the couch potatoes like Brush Fan can take a break from their Doritos to take a shot.

But Brush Fan keeps Doritos in business, so he does serve a purpose. I think.

I ran the relay, my wife did the back half marathon(raised 1k for Juvenile Diabetes) my 17 year old son did his first half marathon and finished it in 1 hour 28 minutes. Finished 173 out of over 10,000. My youngest son had a PR in the 5k. Another fun filled weekend spent in Pittsburgh!

Congrats to all of you!! Sounds like a nice day out with the family. Nothing better.

Did anyone in the Lair run in the Marathon or Half Marathon today? Other than me? Leave it up to Pitt fans to not even comment about the largest single sporting event in Pittsburgh.
Could have bragged up your accomplishment and the greatness of the day without insulting Pitt fans on a Pitt fan board...

Fair point. I enjoy marathon day but not sure why it was expected that it would be discussed on a Pitt football message board.

That said, I saw a lot of runners repping the script. And at least one block Pitt.

There is a faction of Pitt fans who are notoriously cheap and are just words, nothing else. That's who I was referencing. Not those who have actually responded and talked about running in the largest sporting event of any kind in Pittsburgh.

Yes, it is a fair point. I saw a lot of Pitt fans as spectators also.

There are a lot of less relevant subjects being discussed on the Pitt message board. But this is actually relevant as the largest Pittsburgh sporting event.

I ran the marathon many times back in the 90s and early 2000s. I recall a woman, not sure what neighborhood, but she sat in her chair and just rattled off good job and other phrases and say name of every runner that passed her. They used to post the runners name and bib number in the newspaper. She’s have it out on her lap and just say every name. That was back when they could barely get 3,000 runners.

You seem to be the only one continuing to talk about it

Then you're in the wrong places or with the wrong people. I've been having conversations with numerous people yet today about the race, events, everything. If you stay in the fat and lazy circle of friends, that's why you don't hear about it. When you have over 300,000 people in Pittsburgh running and cheering on the runners, it means a lot. I know.....you believe in the Bob Huggins method of physical fitness.

Listen if you can. Or read in this case. The guy comes on this thread and basically insults those of us who are actually doing something that 95% of the population cannot do in their wildest dreams. It's a real accomplishment that most people can't do. I'm done with holding back when some jerk comes on here and belittles people who are doing something positive while he sits on his couch, eats Doritos, and drinks Iron City while belittling those of us who ran. Besides, calling him fatty is not exactly calling him what he really is. It was mild. I can think of a few choice words I could call you that you wouldn't like, but I'm not going there.

He has no business posting here in this thread, and neither do you unless you ran the Marathon or know someone who did. I'm done with you. I just wasted 3 minutes of my time responding to you. Never again. You're not worth it.
This kind of viewpoint is why society doles out participation trophies in droves. You didn't win the race, so why bow your chest out like you accomplished something? You didn't. You were just average, at best. Probably not even worthy of a 16 seed play-in game.

So unless you can win a PGA tournament, never talk about golf?

I don't know what that joker said because I put him on Ignore and won't read his drivel. His replies are typical of uncoordinated lumps with big mouths who can't play a sport or do anything athletic. But whatever you said, you answered him appropriately. Thank you for supporting marathoners.

Meh, haters gonna hate. I’m 44 and used a marathon as a training run for longer races. I had a blast running with my wife, interacting with folks on the course and seeing the city. Most folks who rip marathon/endurance runners don’t have the mental strength to do it, so if it makes them feel better, glad I could help.

Thanks. I think you hit it on the head. They lack the mental strength to run or do anything that requires endurance or a challenge. If it makes them feel better to make fun of us who have the mental and physical strength, knock yourselves out. Literally.

Great that you could run it with your wife. My wife had knee surgery recently so she was advised not to run. But we do walk 5 miles every morning together. I'm happy for you.

One of the best parts of the Pittsburgh Marathon is the interaction with the crowds and seeing the various neighborhoods without cars interfering with your run.
