ouch 42. clearly not a school to be taken seriously

Research and student quality aren’t necessarily related. Unless I missed them, I don’t see Amherst or Williams. Also, F Harvard.
Amherst and Williams are liberal arts colleges. They're not even in the same category as these schools in US News' undergrad rankings. Not research publications come out of Amherst and Williams to even make the cut to be ranked in this methodology.

Student quality also is different than educational quality. But it depends if you are talking about undergrad or grad students, and also whether undergrad students benefit for be able to participate in cutting edge research and making connections to world leaders in their undergrad field. I certainly benefited from it in my field, and was published as a first author in a high impact journal as an undergrad at Pitt. That doesn't happen if I go to Amherst for undergrad.

Since JokePa reinvigorated this thread, and our opponent tomorrow is UVA, I was surprised to see them down at #110 on the list. I have always assumed UVA was a large research institution. Was I influenced by popped collars and wayfarers all of these years? Perhaps they have a large law school? That would probably match my perception a little better.
