So what was the excuse before Peduto?
If Pitt wants cooperation, they should play more hardball.
But... that's too hard... just like a stadium. Easier for admins to collect a nice salary and go with the flow.

If Pitt won a ton in football, and regular top 10 and occasional NC, the school would have tremendous popularity as a result, and thus tremendous political power.
Pitt shortchanged itself so incredibly much by contracting from top level football. It impacts the entire university, every day.

Yeah, there is a mustache-and-beard version of Just for Men; I use it myself. (For most of my life I was cursed with looking much younger than I am, but when that shifted in the other direction it shifted QUICK!) But I guess if you have THAT MUCH beard, it takes too long to treat.

My son loves his school and it is great.
I knew the tax rates when we bought a home.
Just like anyone else.
Major plumbing infrastructure has been underway.
We bought a system for our house to be on the safe side.
My guess is you don’t get a vote on the mayor.

If you really love the Pittsburgh Public School System, you are in denial and/or were educated there. That school system is terrible.
I do love my son’s school.
Teachers and principal are great and he’s thriving.

Thankfully, I got into Pitt because of my parents pushing education.
I can't say that for the schools in Pittsburgh.
My language choices were Latin, Latin or Latin.
The were no Calculus or pre-Calculus courses.
Actually, there were no advanced classes at all.
Take a look at Pittsburgh's average SAT scores compared to most other school districts in western PA. They are dreadful.
I'm happy that you child is thriving.
Too bad that when comparing the effectiveness of school districts, Pittsburgh lags behind.

There are good schools and bad schools in the city.
Parents are the 1 variable to outcomes.
But I’ll point out in your rebuke- that crappy school enables you acceptance to a very good college.

Very true there are good and bad schools in PPS system. 90% are bad, 10% are good, all the politically connected send their kids to the 10% that are good and the rest send their kids to the crap schools unless they are either lucky or find a way to work the system. There is a big difference between Allderdice and Carrick/Barshaer/Westinghouse.

Pittsburgh area needs regionalization. City and suburbs should work together. Some of the suburban communities can’t field a police force or fill all local the political posts. Volunteer fire companies need help. Local zoning boards have unqualified people. I think it was about 50 years ago the state had local school districts merge? - it was a good idea.

Yes those jurisdictions are like Wilkinsburg/Mt Oliver/Swissvale basically Ghetto's. When i moved out of my parents house (in Banksville a city neighborhood) in 2004 and moved to Green Tree Borough I remember calling my mom for the first snow fall around noon. I asked her if the trucks came to plow the roads yet, knowing full well that they did not. When she said no, I said "oh they already came 3 times here". The City is a joke. There is nothing the city does that the middle class or wealthier suburbs do a lot better than.

Completely missed it. It was a layup so I shouldn't be surprised. This site was really acting up on me last night. Couldn't type into the responses, it was jumping all over, so not surprised I missed it.
That is just 1 service that I provided as an example. There are many services that the suburbs do way better. But lets stick with snow removal. Dormont is street parking and they do it better than the city.
