he actually has been pretty healthy, had over 500 at bats last year. average is low but everyone in MLB's batting average is low. still hit 17 Hrs last year too...
i cant say i watched a lot of brewers games last year so i'll take your word for it. he is on the wrong side of 35..He’s no longer a great fielder either. I think he probably splits time between OF and DH and Andujar sees a lot of time as the 3rd OF.
It’s Macys now. It was probably still Kaufman‘s way (way way) back when he was here thoughCommon sense prevails! Glad they could make it happen. Can’t wait to see him at Kauffman this year.

awesome move. can't love it enough. It'll bring back fans.. we have a nice young team with some solid vets who played big games in their day.. Hill, Cutch, Santana, Choi.. lots of guys to mentor this young team.
My daughter was at a New Year’s Eve party and Cutch and his wife were there. It was on the southside somewhere and wasn’t the type of party/venue where you’d see local celebs and Pittsburgh high society. Kinda cool he was there among the hoi polloi.BACK TO THE FUTURE!!!!
Kind of like replacing a dependable solid while not spectacular Subaru Outback with a Nissan Versa in a Pirate parking lot loaded with a lot of Gremlins and Pintos..Reynolds replacement?
I’m grateful I’m not the only one who got that
It was a good one!I’m grateful I’m not the only one who got that
After the deal, GM will cite “in the face of small market headwinds, need to rightsize remuneration imbalances, thrilled with the long term positioning this transaction enables, jurisprudence is the better part of diction blah blah.” Local media nod obediently and attack the buffet table and free hooch.36-year old coming off the worst season of his career, that sounds about right for the Pirates. I can’t wait to see that his contract will be 15% of the depth chart.
Reynolds’ exit for a 4.7 ERA reliever, 2 prospects, and a 4 month supply of Big League Chew incoming.
I read this thread earlier and was surprised with all the positivity. But this.36-year old coming off the worst season of his career, that sounds about right for the Pirates. I can’t wait to see that his contract will be 15% of the depth chart.

He has 1948 hits and 287 HRs, maybe reach the milestones and retire as a Pirate?36-year old coming off the worst season of his career, that sounds about right for the Pirates. I can’t wait to see that his contract will be 15% of the depth chart.

Or signing him because they are confident that they will make a deal to trade Reynolds.Good move. I think an OF of Reynolds, Suwinski, and Cutch can be pretty solid. The pessimist in me thinks they are signing him to trade him at the deadline. Would be a wildly unpopular move though (not that the Pirates care about that).
Just softening the PR blow when it happens.Does make me wonder about Reynolds, at least somewhat. Would they bring back Cutch to try and distract from a Reynolds trade? Hard to believe they are willing to spend money without other money coming off the books somewhere. I suppose I should be more positive but after years of bad decisions, I’m not.
Not sure why there would be a PR blow. Reynolds wants to leave. The Pirates have his right for the next few years. I can't imagine that they won't be very selective about who they trade him for.Just softening the PR blow when it happens.
Reynolds IS under contract for several years. Trading him will no doubt show the young “mentored” players exactly how they can get outta tahn when it’s their turn. Although Reynolds has to be shaking his head over some of these 1-year contracts these new Pirates are getting. Can’t blame him for asking out. Plus he’s watched his pals leave like Stallings, Gamel, Newman and the fat bubble gum guy.Does make me wonder about Reynolds, at least somewhat. Serious? The whole anti Nutting narrative is not retaining good players. The fans are fed up — don’t have to go beyond posters here. Not sure why there would be a PR blow. Reynolds wants to leave. Yeah I am thinking that is the next shoe. I don't mind them trading Reynolds providing the return is good. Not a bunch of jabrones like we got for Cole.Reynolds replacement?
I thought the Nutting narrative is that he doesn't want to spend money. Reynolds is a total bargain. That is why I think they will be very selective about who they trade him for.Serious? And it will end up disastrously because I would almost bet the house that if Reynolds is unhappy about being forced to stay in Pittsburgh, he'll develop a back injury and they won't get anything for him.I thought the Nutting narrative is that he doesn't want to spend money. The fact that he is requesting a trade does undermine the potential return that the Pirates may be able to get for him. The prospect of keeping a disgruntled player as the Pirates BATNA (Best Alternative to a negotiated agreement) reduces the strength of their bargaining power a bit. But I don't see Reynolds faking an injury or something like that which would make him less desirable to a new club. I see him doing everything he can to maximize his value and increase his chances of getting out of Pittsburgh. And it will end up disastrously because I would almost bet the house that if Reynolds is unhappy about being forced to stay in Pittsburgh, he'll develop a back injury and they won't get anything for him.
